Soboli combines commemorative history with a hiking route. When planning your trip, it is helpful to distinguish the local connection to remembrance from other attractions in the wider destination of Općina Čavle. This can help you decide whether to focus your stay mainly on history, hiking, culture or leisure activities.

Commemorative history in Soboli

Soboli is home to the protected cultural heritage site “Spomen groblje žrtvama NOB-a iz Podhuma”. The Soboli memorial cemetery in Podhum commemorates the civilians who were killed there on 12 July 1942. It is also the venue for formal commemorative ceremonies. Dates for individual ceremonies may vary; take this into account when planning if you would like to combine your visit with a commemorative event.

Soboli therefore has a specific historical focus. If you are interested in the history of the place, you can take this into account when choosing your destination. The name of the protected cultural heritage site and the remembrance of the 1942 event give the subject a clear local focus.

The Čavle–Soboli hiking route

The Čavle–Soboli hiking route is 4.5 km long and takes about two hours. This approximate time makes it easy to include the route as a separate part of your day’s plans. Check conditions before your trip if you plan to include the trail in your itinerary.
