Construction of the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes in Vrata began in 1929 and was completed in July 1932. A 13-kilometre MTB route starts in Vrata. It runs mostly on gravel, has a total elevation gain of 480 metres and is rated easy to moderately difficult. MTB Route 705 Vidikovac Preradović passes through Vrata and then follows the railway in the direction of Belo Selo. Another section passes the Caroline Educational Mountain Garden and leads back towards the Gmajna Sports and Recreation Centre, which is located in Vrata. As trail conditions can change, check the current route conditions before setting out. The Camino Gorski Kotar also passes through Vrata.

Leisure activities in Vrata

Paintball Park Vrata is located in the settlement of Vrata, within the Općina Fužine municipality, and offers ziplining. The park is accessible from the Rijeka–Zagreb motorway via the Vrata exit. The Gmajna Sports and Recreation Centre is another named location in Vrata; no other facilities or activities are implied.

Sanjkalište Vrata offers summer tobogganing. As this is a seasonal activity, check whether it is currently operating before your visit. The tubing track has a minimum age requirement of four; confirm this age rule with the operator. Group visits can be arranged in advance. A 7-kilometre route for pedestrians and cyclists goes around Lake Bajer. The trail by Lakes Bajer and Lepenica is 6.3 kilometres long and completely flat. For a shorter walk, try the easy route from Beach Bar Čoka on Lake Bajer to the Preradović viewpoint: it is 2.3 kilometres long and takes 45 minutes. From the viewpoint, you can see Lake Bajer, Fužine, Ličko polje and the surrounding mountains.

Vrelo Cave is also part of the wider destination of Općina Fužine. It is 300 metres long and features stalactites and other cave formations. The entrance has no steps; the cave is suitable for visitors of all ages, including wheelchair users.

SUP boards and kayaks are available for hire from Lagoxperience on Lake Lepenica. Check current availability before you arrive.
