Mošćenička Draga offers natural beaches and a range of ways to stay active and explore the coast. When choosing a hotel, one simple question can help: is your trip primarily about a longer hike, time by the water, local history or regional cuisine? Depending on your plans, factors such as duration, seasonal beach access and sea conditions may also play a role in your planning.

Hiking and active exploration

The Trebišća–Perun route is one option for a longer hike: it is 15 kilometres long, with an estimated duration of seven hours. Its starting point is in Sveti Petar in Mošćenička Draga. From there, the route passes through the preserved hamlets of Potoška vala and reaches the 880-metre-high summit of Perun. Allow enough time for the hike and check trail conditions and access before setting out.

In the wider destination of Općina Mošćenička Draga, the historical and mythological Trebišća–Perun trail explores the religious beliefs of the first Slavic settlers in the Kvarner region. The mythological interpretation offers a distinct perspective on the route. Mošćenička Draga also has trails for forest walks, hikes and runs. Cycling in the surrounding countryside and kayaking to explore the coast add to the range of activities.

Coast, beach and snorkelling

Senjavac is a naturist beach just beyond St. Ivan Beach. Beach conditions and access can vary seasonally; if you plan to visit Senjavac, take these factors into account when choosing when to go.

The Pod zvoni snorkelling area stretches along the north side of the bay, from the shallow areas below a semi-open cave to the cape. From Mošćenička Draga, sail south to reach it; access depends on sea conditions. Check the conditions for your planned visit. A colony of the strictly protected orange sea coral (Astroides calycularus) is found at the site. Do not touch the protected coral.

Harbour and local history

The small harbour in the old town of Dražanski is home to fishing boats and smaller boats; there is also a seasonal marina for tourist boats. If the marina is important to your travel plans, check its availability in advance for your chosen dates.

The old town of Dražanski is a typical fishing settlement that developed at the end of the 19th century. Mošćenička Draga developed as a fishing port. A reference from 1436 mentions a settlement at the harbour of Sv. Marina.

Regional cuisine

Draški škamp is considered a local speciality and is served fresh in fish restaurants. If you specifically want to try it, ask the fish restaurants in advance whether it is currently available during your travel dates; availability may change.
