Zlarin offers several different starting points for planning a trip: a passenger boat line, natural and cultural heritage, cycling and walking trails, a climbing area and pebble beaches. The history of its churches and the exhibition at the Coral Centre also give your stay a range of themes to explore. Consider whether you would like to focus your days more on activity, nature or culture.

Getting there and finding your way around

Passenger boat line 505 runs on the Šibenik–Zlarin–Prvić Šepurine–Vodice route. Check the timetable when planning your trip.

Nature, trails and climbing

Lokvica is Zlarin’s only freshwater habitat and ensures the survival of amphibians. Lokvica is also part of Zlarin’s cultural heritage. Thirty-six bird species have been recorded at Lokvica, including 25 strictly protected species; future surveys may update the population figures. This makes it possible to consider Lokvica both as a habitat and in the context of the island’s cultural heritage.

The Put Borovice trail is suitable for bicycles and for long walks through unspoiled nature. The Put Klepca trail is more challenging and attracts hikers in particular. The trail descriptions therefore highlight different features: Put Borovice combines cycling and long walks, while Put Klepca offers a more challenging hiking experience. Trail conditions may change; check them before setting out.

The Poturičini kruzi climbing area has a rock face up to 18 m high, with 21 equipped routes across two sectors, graded from 4a to 6c. The area can be reached via a marked circular trail measuring 3.6 km in total. Outside summer, it is suitable for climbing all day; in summer, climbing is possible early in the morning or late in the evening. Route equipment may change through maintenance or extensions. Markings and trail conditions may also change, so check the latest conditions before your visit.

Culture and architectural history

The exhibition at the Hrvatski centar koralja Zlarin uses virtual and augmented reality, audio recordings, and educational and traditional exhibits. It spans four floors of the Kažerma building. Organised group visits are available by prior registration and appointment; expert-led tours are offered in Croatian and English.

The Church of Our Lady of Rašelj was built in 1448, and the parish church of the Assumption of Mary between 1735 and 1740. St. Marija Church was built on the foundations of a late antique structure. Zlarin’s Leroj dates from 1839 and is considered a tourist attraction on the island. These sites offer different points of reference in the island’s architectural and cultural history.

Pebble beaches, regatta and kayaking

Zlarin has pebble beaches that are naturally sheltered from all winds. A tourism website from 2018 describes the Zlarinska regata krstaša as a traditional cruiser regatta held annually in April since 2003. Check the dates for the relevant year before planning a trip around it.

Kayaking is promoted as a special way to explore Zlarin. Interested visitors can contact Peak and Paddle Croatia; check availability before your trip. Together with the trails, climbing area and cultural sites, the island offers a range of themes to guide your travel plans.
