If you are looking for a hotel in Dusina, you can consider whether historical sites, local festival traditions or a cycling stage will shape your stay.
Churches and Cultural Heritage in Dusina
The Church of St Peter in Dusina is a protected immovable cultural asset and is classified as sacred architectural heritage. It was built in 1600 and took its present form in 1754, when it was extended. The two years refer to different building phases: 1600 is the year it was built, while 1754 marks its extension to its present form. This makes it possible to trace the building’s history through its construction and a later alteration.
Above the church, an Illyrian fortification stands on a hill. A ten-metre-high cross was erected on this hill in 2000. The church, fortification and cross point to different historical and religious contexts that can be seen at specific places in Dusina.
Settlement History of Mihaljevići
The rural complex of Mihaljevići is part of Dusina. It lies near Ilića glavica on the northern edge of Vrgoračko polje and below the Church of St Peter. The complex includes two hamlets: Mihaljevići u brigu developed from the late 18th century to the middle of the 20th century; Mihaljevići na brigu developed during the 20th century. These periods distinguish the development of the two parts of the settlement: their origins cannot be reduced to a single date.
Traditions and Ribarska večer
In Stinjevac, the hill of Stinjevac is considered evidence of prehistoric settlement in the parish. The Church of Queen of Peace, built in 1992, is also located at Gomila in Stinjevac. These two places offer different historical points of reference: the hill points to prehistory, while the church is a building from the late 20th century.
KUD Dusina presents traditional costumes, songs, dances and inherited customs. The specific performances may vary. Ribarska večer in Dusina is also part of the local tradition of recurring folk, religious and traditional festivals. A report dated 9 August 2025 described the fifth edition as a traditional event connected to the fishing heritage, with food, drinks and live music. If you would like to attend a future edition, check the relevant event dates.
Cycling and Further Insights into the Region

The wider area around Vrgorac is considered part of the Dalmatian hinterland, with hilltops, valleys, sinkholes, meadows and fertile fields. Strawberry cultivation is also part of this landscape. Regional food and drink culture includes strawberries, Dalmatian pršut, local wines, Bikla, snails with shallots and Koštradina. Thus, looking beyond Dusina takes in both landscape features and a range of regional products and specialities.
