Stoense on North Langeland brings together a church with an unusual tower position, a pottery workshop and a beach on the west coast. These attractions appeal to different travel interests: at Stoense Church, architecture and glass art take centre stage; Potteriet combines a workshop and shop; and Stoense Havn Beach is characterised by fine sand and shallow water. If you are looking for a hotel for a trip to Stoense, these differences can help you choose a location that suits your own interests.

Church and glass mosaics

Stoense Church is one of the few churches in Denmark with a tower on the east side. This tower position is an architectural feature by Danish standards. The church also has two stained-glass mosaic windows created by Maja Lisa Engelhardt in 2005. This brings together a feature of church architecture and a specific work of art from 2005. If you are interested in sacred architecture, you can consider the unusual tower position as a distinctive aspect; the mosaic windows offer a separate point of connection with art.

Pottery and farm shop

Potteriet is a pottery workshop with an adjoining shop in Stoense on North Langeland. All the ceramics are hand-thrown on a potter’s wheel in the workshop. For travellers interested in ceramics, this describes not only the type of business but also how the pieces are made.

Himmel og Hav, also called Grevegaarden, is a farm shop in Stoense on North Langeland. It is located directly behind the church and village pond. The second name refers to the same farm shop. Stoense therefore offers a range of different attractions: Potteriet is about pottery and hand-thrown ceramics, while Himmel og Hav is a farm shop whose location is defined by the church and village pond.

Stoense Havn Beach

Stoense Havn Beach is on the west coast of North Langeland, by the Stoense holiday home area. The beach has fine sand, with few stones on the beach and seabed, and the water is shallow. It is considered particularly child-friendly. The beach has a bathing jetty that gives you direct access to the water. If the jetty is important to your plans, check its condition before your visit. This lets you take the beach features and available facilities into account separately when planning your trip.

Harbour, trail and archaeological site

Despite its name, there is no landing pier at Stoense Havn, so the name alone should not be taken as an indication that boats can moor there. The Øhavsstien trail runs immediately south of Stoense Havn, alongside a narrow wetland. A Stone Age Køkkenmødding (shell midden) from the Ertebølle culture is located 300–400 metres south of the harbour. The location descriptions differ: the Øhavsstien runs immediately south of the harbour alongside the wetland, while the Køkkenmødding is 300–400 metres to the south.
