Local history and art in Søndersø

Søndersø dates back to around 1100 as a village. The Tørne iron sculpture offers a connection to more recent local history. It stands at a roundabout in Søndersø and was created by the artist Kurt Tegtmeier. In 2000, it was installed on a road that had previously been the main road between Bogense and Odense. Tørne thus brings together the history of a work of art and the road’s former significance as a main road.

The church in Søndersø also offers a historical connection: in the Middle Ages, it was dedicated to Saint Peter and Saint Paul. Its dedication adds a different time frame to the more recent history of the sculpture. Anyone interested in the town’s development can therefore find a connection both to medieval church history and to a former main road.

Trails and exercise

Søndersø has a network of trails with connections to Morud and Langesøskoven. There are also four Clover Trails, which can be used for walking, cycling or running. The Clover Trails offer you a choice of ways to get active, while the trail network connects to two named destinations. Either option can shape your plans, depending on whether you are interested in a particular activity or in the routes to the destinations mentioned.

Activities in Søndersø Town Park

Søndersø Town Park has a large climbing course and a skatepark. An obstacle course runs along Carlsvej to the town park. The activities differ in form: climbing and skating are available in the park, while the obstacle course follows the road to get there. When choosing, you can distinguish between activities in the park and a route connected to Carlsvej.

Another way to experience Søndersø is with the activity book “Adventures in Søndersø with Noah and Sofia” (“Med Noah og Sofia på eventyr i Søndersø”). It combines reading, play and a town walk. The three different adventures include choices that determine how the story unfolds. This brings reading and play together with a walk around town.

You can borrow the physical activity book from Søndersø Library, Odensevej 8, using a library card. If you plan to borrow it, check the library’s local arrangements before your trip.

Walk and rose garden at Dallund

In the area around Søndersø, you can walk around Lake Dallund all year round. There is also a rose garden at Dallund. These offer two different ways to enjoy nature: a walk around the lake and a visit to the garden. Check the rose garden’s seasonal access before visiting.
