Gudbjerg offers several distinct points of interest when planning a stay: a relatively high-lying, hilly landscape, forests for outdoor activities, and places connected with prehistory and local remembrance. Which of these interests you most can help guide your choice of activities during your stay. The landscape, forest areas and historical sites each offer a different focus.

Landscape and Trails Around Gudbjerg

Gudbjerg lies in a relatively high-lying, hilly landscape. The terrain has steep slopes in the direction of Stokkebækken and Gudme. This landform shapes the surroundings and is a feature that distinguishes Gudbjerg from a flat destination.

You can explore Gudbjerg Præsteskov on foot; the forest has a very diverse range of vegetation. It also offers opportunities for outdoor activities for adults and children. Hunting periods are signposted separately. Follow the signs when visiting.

There are short and long hiking routes from Gudbjerg, suitable for different levels of fitness. This lets you choose between different route lengths when planning. If you would like to include a hike in your stay, you can choose from routes ranging from shorter to longer distances.

Dyrehaveskoven is a small woodland area along a forest track used for hiking and cycling. It has coniferous and mixed forest, small forest lakes and other natural features. While Gudbjerg Præsteskov stands out for its diverse vegetation, Dyrehaveskoven combines different forest types with small lakes. These features can help you distinguish the two forest areas by their respective character when planning outdoor activities.

Prehistory and an Annual Tradition

Gudbjerglund contains four megalithic tombs from the Neolithic period. They were built between 3500 and 3100 BC. This dating gives the monuments a clear connection to prehistory. In the green surroundings, you can picnic or stroll among prehistoric monuments. Gudbjerglund thus combines an archaeological theme with opportunities to spend time outdoors.

The Sankt Hans festival is also held in Gudbjerglund. This annual tradition brings locals and visitors together, weather permitting. If you would like to include the festival in your plans, check the event dates.

Apotekerhaven and Gudbjerg Church

Apotekerhaven is a memorial park right next to Gudbjerg Church. It is dedicated to Christian A. D. Hansen (1843–1916), founder of Chr. Hansen Holding A/S, a global food ingredients company. Christian Hansen is buried in the church. The park, its dedication and the church give the site a personal and historical connection.

A pavilion in Apotekerhaven provides information about Christian Hansen and the medicinal herbs planted in the garden. Visitors can use tables, benches and a children’s playground. These facilities may be maintained seasonally; check their condition before your visit. The garden thus combines information about Hansen with the medicinal herbs and practical facilities for spending time at the site.
