Kramnitse: Beach, Harbour and Cycling Routes
Accommodation in Kramnitse
Kramnitse offers several reasons to stay: the beach, the small fishing harbour and cycling connections that pass directly through the town. When planning a hotel stay, it is worth deciding what matters most to you: would you mainly like to enjoy the beach, walk along the dike or include a cycling route in your plans? The townâs features show what Kramnitse has to offer and what you may want to prioritise when choosing a hotel for your stay.
Beach, Fishing and Plants
At the western end of Kramnitze Strand, near Kramnitze Havn, a ramp leads down to the sand and provides access for wheelchair users and pushchairs. East of the harbour mole, there is an area of beach suitable for surfing. Fishing is possible from the shore, the bridge or the mole. This means the beach offers a range of activities, with the places mentioned not limited to a single section.
The plant life is also part of the character of the area around Kramnitze Strand. Plants found there include cow-wheat, wild celery, sea yellow-rattle, fat hen, masterwort and elecampane. It is probably home to Denmarkâs largest population of cow-wheat. A visit to the beach can therefore also be combined with a look at the areaâs distinctive flora.
Harbour and History
Kramnitze Havn is a small fishing harbour and the only refuge harbour between Rødby Havn and Albuen. For many people walking along the dike, it is a natural stopping point. A concrete ramp with a landing bridge is used to launch boats. The harbour is therefore a distinctive part of the townscape and also represents the use of the water.
The townâs history has several different points of reference. Kramnitse Gab lies at the former entrance to Rødby Fjord. A dike monument has already been erected east of Kramnitze Havn. The harbourâs history provides another date: Kramnitse has been a harbour since 1736.
Cycling Routes on Different Scales
National Cycle Route 8, Ăstersøruten, passes directly by Kramnitze. It is 820 kilometres long and can be ridden in 14 stages. The route follows the dike to Rødbyhavn or heads east to the centre of Nakskov. Its total length and number of stages describe the national route as a whole; the two directions mentioned show which destinations the route connects from Kramnitze.
Naturlandet Rundt also passes directly by Kramnitze. The route connects with all 19 local, signposted circular experience routes in Naturlandet Lolland-Falster. These circular routes are each 18 to 49 kilometres long. These details therefore describe a different scale of planning from the 820-kilometre Ăstersøruten: Naturlandet Rundt is about connections to local loops and their range of distances.
The Det flade Lolland cycle route starts and ends in Kramnitze, but is signposted in only one direction. Along the way, it meets Ăstersøruten, Munkevejen (89) and Naturlandet Rundt. If you include this route in your plans, its one-way signposting is an important distinction from the information about where the route starts and ends. Together, the routes show that Kramnitse is connected to a national cycle route as well as regional and local cycling links.
