There are several ways to plan a stay in Løsning: the Hedensted Søerne lie to the west of town, Skærven, with its marked hiking trails, is to the north, and archaeological finds can be seen at Løsning Søndermark. There is also the medieval Løsning Gamle Kirke in the centre and the annual festival week Sommer i By. If you’re looking for a hotel in Løsning, these different attractions can shape the focus of your trip: hiking, a visit to the water, history or a stay during the festival week.

Lakes and hiking trails in Løsning

The Hedensted Søerne are a recreational area with seven large lakes and paths around them. Near Løsning, a hiking trail of about four kilometres runs around the seven lakes. This gives you a specific hiking option if you’d like to explore the lake landscape on foot; the approximate distance helps you gauge the length of the walk.

Skærven lies north of Løsning and has marked hiking trails. Sandtippen, a hill offering views over part of Løsning, is also located in Skærven. You can therefore choose between different kinds of outings: a trail around the seven lakes or marked trails with a named viewpoint. The view from Sandtippen takes in part of the town.

Swimming is also an option at the Hedensted Søerne: it is permitted in the large lakes, and one of the lakes has a sandy beach. Water quality is tested regularly. So check local conditions before swimming. The beach is at one particular lake, while swimming is permitted in the large lakes.

Culture and history

The medieval Løsning Gamle Kirke stands in the heart of Løsning. At Løsning Søndermark, history goes further back: the find there includes remains of a Roman helmet, including a neck guard and a decorated cheek piece. The plates belong to a ridge helmet, a type of helmet used in the Roman Empire in the 4th century.

Another historical connection at Løsning Søndermark reaches back to the Iron Age. A leader buried enough weapons for a small army in two houses. The weapon deposits are interpreted as ceremonies or offerings connected with a chieftain’s residence. Two aspects stand side by side: the quantity of weapons described and the possible significance of the deposits. Together with the Roman helmet find, they offer different historical themes to explore in Løsning: the helmet type from the Roman Empire and the Iron Age weapon finds.
