Stouby is located near Vejle Fjord; green forests, trails and open landscapes characterise the area and offer opportunities for active outdoor recreation. When choosing your travel dates, you can consider what matters most to you: coastal scenery and hiking trails, local history or a local festival. This lets you combine your search for a hotel in Stouby with the focus you want for your stay.

Coast and trails around Stouby

Stouby Strand has a small beach and an elegant bathing jetty that is open to everyone. The wooded coastal slopes there are part of the Natura 2000 site “Skove langs nordsiden af Vejle Fjord”; the protected areas are designated as Habitat Area No. 67 and Bird Protection Area No. 45. Forest and coastal landscapes are therefore part of the local scenery, as is access to the water.

The Kløverstierne in Stouby comprise four different routes. The black route is 10 kilometres long and passes through Stouby before continuing towards the fjord. The green route follows lit streets and paths through the town and is used by walkers, inline skaters, runners and people with pushchairs. The two routes described therefore differ in more than just colour: for the black route, its length and direction are important reference points; for the green route, it is the path, lighting and the groups of users mentioned.

The historic spa trails at Stouby Strand also now serve as walking trails through forest and coastal landscapes. One of the trails leads to Træskohage Fyr. The path to the lighthouse has been renovated so that wheelchair users can also reach it. There are also forest paths and a shelter site in the area around Træskohage Fyr.

Landscape and history

Træskohage Fyr was built by Vejle Havn in 1904 and is a landmark for the area around Stouby and Hotel Vejlefjord. The hotel grounds also have their own landscape history: the park was laid out in 1901 in the romantic landscape style, with bridges, streams and lakes. The grounds have more than 20 kilometres of original spa trails. If you plan to follow a specific trail, check its condition before your visit.

Stouby Kirke was built around 1130 as a Romanesque travertine church. Its furnishings bring together pieces from several periods: a baptismal font believed to date from the 12th century, Gothic altar candlesticks from around 1500, a pulpit from 1640 and an altarpiece from 1731. Please note that access depends on the cemetery gardeners being present; the church is not guaranteed to be open.
