Brædstrup – Nature Trails and Cultural History
Accommodation in Brædstrup
Brædstrup lies in the hilly Søhøjlandet region. If you are looking for a hotel in Brædstrup, you can plan your stay around nature trails and cultural history. The routes vary in length, course and focus, and also have specific historical connections. This makes it possible to plan your stay according to your interests in hiking, cycling and history. The trails offer different points of interest: from a marked woodland network to a loop around a lake and a much longer cycling route.
Hiking and cycling by route type
The larger, town-edge forest Ring Skov borders Brædstrup and has marked hiking routes. Five routes there are between 2 and 3.8 kilometres long. In Ring Skov, visitors are asked to stay on the paths. The signposted Hjertestien is 5.7 kilometres long and runs through Brædstrup and the nearby natural areas. This means there are several marked woodland paths alongside a single signposted route through the town and nearby natural areas.
“Ro i naturen” offers a different type of route: the 1.2-kilometre route starts in a park by a lake and includes eight stations with mindfulness and yoga exercises. It is shorter than the five routes in Ring Skov, but its stations offer a distinct thematic focus. If you are interested in mindfulness or yoga exercises, this difference, alongside the distance, is a useful point of reference.
At Ring Sø, a roughly 3-kilometre unpaved path goes all the way around the lake. Its complete circular route sets it apart from Hjertestien, which runs through Brædstrup and nearby natural areas. The shorter options therefore differ not only in length, but also include both a circular path and a route through the town and countryside.
The popular Naturstien Horsens-Silkeborg cycling and hiking route runs along the Folkepark and the activity park in Brædstrup. It is 61 kilometres long and is particularly suitable for cyclists. Compared with the shorter walking paths, it offers a much longer route; for choosing between hiking and cycling, it represents a different scale. Ordered by length, the options range from 1.2 kilometres for “Ro i naturen” and about 3 kilometres at Ring Sø, through 2 to 3.8 kilometres in Ring Skov and 5.7 kilometres for Hjertestien; the 61 kilometres of Naturstien represent a further scale.
Cultural history and dates
Klovenhøj is a burial mound that probably dates from the Bronze Age (1,700–500 BC); a staircase leads to the summit. Brædstrup Church was built in 1941. Tinghuset dates from 1919 and has been preserved with its original furnishings. The dates have different degrees of certainty: Klovenhøj’s Bronze Age dating is probable, while 1919 and 1941 are the construction years of Tinghuset and the church.
The troll Jensnej arrived in Brædstrup in 2023 and was created by artist Thomas Dambo. As a more recent point of reference, it complements the themes of architectural history and the Bronze Age.
