Dejret on Skødshoved is a planned linear village: larger farms and country houses stand at regular intervals on both sides of the winding village street. At the same time, Dejret lies high in fertile, hilly countryside. This gives you several different things to consider when planning your trip: the distinctive village layout, the landscape, walking opportunities and the beach.

Village Street and Agricultural Heritage

Along Dejret Bygade is an almost intact row of larger four-sided farms. A four-sided farm is a complex in which buildings enclose all four sides of a courtyard. The row makes this type of farm building recognisable as part of the streetscape: the focus is not just on a single farm, but on several larger complexes along Bygade. Together with the country houses arranged at regular intervals on both sides of the winding village street, they reveal the planned layout of the linear village. The street and its recurring buildings provide a tangible focal point for anyone interested in rural architecture.

Dejret Bygade is also home to a well-preserved cooperative bakery, rare in every respect. Its cooperative organisation adds a distinctive feature alongside the larger farms and country houses. The remains of a windmill can also be seen in Dejret. The architectural interest thus ranges from a long row of similar farm complexes to individual examples with a different character. The bakery and mill remains offer a contrast to the recurring architecture of the four-sided farms.

Hilly Landscape and Beach

North of Dejret, the landscape slopes gently down towards Kalø Vig and Knebel Vig. The landscape is therefore characterised not only by its elevated position, but also by a clear direction and two named geographical landmarks. The elevation and gentle slope add a specific spatial orientation to the description of the fertile, hilly surroundings.

Dejret Beach can be reached via Skårhavvej. Fishing and sailing small dinghies are popular activities at the beach. The water depth is also specified: the water reaches two metres at a distance of about 100 to 150 metres from the shore. This gives you two distinct questions to consider when choosing what to do: which activities are popular at the beach, and how far from shore is the water two metres deep?

Routes of Different Lengths

There are two clearly distinct options for comparing route lengths. Sporet på Skødshoved, a 2.5 km route marked with posts bearing yellow triangles, runs in the area around Dejret. Another option is an approximately 7 km walk from Skødshoved through Dejret, Blåkær, Landborup, Bjødstrup and Hundshøje and back again. The difference concerns both length and route: the shorter marked route is in the surrounding area, while the longer walk passes through Dejret and several named places. The distances give you a direct comparison of the route lengths; the places and markings further distinguish the routes.

Nature in the Surrounding Area

The natterjack toad occurs in Syddjurs in 4–5 populations: on Dejret Øhoved, at Skødshoved at Strands, and at Fejrup; a population at Øer may still exist. The natterjack toad adds a specific connection to nature alongside the architectural and landscape themes. When spending time in the landscape, take care not to disturb breeding habitats.
