Hørmested: Church and paths in Tislum
Accommodation in Hørmested
Hørmested in North Jutland offers a Romanesque church as a local attraction and walking or cycling paths in the area around Tislum Plantation. When choosing a hotel, its actual location in relation to these different destinations is more important than the general place name. Check the address, availability and amenities of the specific offer.
Church and tradition
Hørmested Church is a towerless Romanesque ashlar church dating from the mid-12th century. Traditionally, a church service is held at 6 a.m. on the morning of Pentecost. This describes a local tradition, not necessarily a confirmed date in the current year. If you want to visit the church, check its opening hours and service schedule before your trip.
Tislum Plantation and Bakker
Tislum Plantation was established around 1919 as a municipal plantation and today has a varied woodland character. A marked trail runs through most of the forest. In the western part, Starhøj stands at 67 metres above sea level; a reunification stone stands there. From the Tislundvej area, it is about 600 metres to the stone via Tislum Hedevej. The elevation refers to the hill, not the route’s ascent.
The publicly accessible Tislum Bakker area is very hilly, has several trail systems and a mountain biking route. A campsite there is on private land. According to the local description, drinking water can be obtained about 130 metres away at a farm. This does not imply free access to the private campsite or a guaranteed water supply at all times. Check current access and usage rules before your visit.
