Agtrup brings together coastal scenery, woodland trails and several distinct themes in the town’s history. If you’re looking for a hotel for a trip to Agtrup, these points of interest can help with your planning: would you like to spend your stay mainly by the water, on a marked cycling route or exploring the local cultural heritage? The following locations and activities give you specific points to consider when making your choice. You can consider the themes separately or include them side by side in your plans, depending on your interests.

Coastal Scenery and Water

Near Agtrup, Agtrup Vig is home to a small, natural beach area. Fine white sand characterizes the beach, while groynes made of large stones divide up the stretch of shore. This makes the beach a distinct coastal attraction alongside the trails through the Stenderup Woods and the town’s historic landmarks. Agtrup Vig has a landing stage for kayaks and a rest area for canoes and kayaks with picnic tables. In the area around Agtrup, you can fish in Kolding Fjord year-round from Agtrup Vig. Agtrup Vig lies between Løger and Skarre Odde and is a popular fishing spot for deep-water fishing and fly-fishing in shallow water.

Cycling and Hiking

There are different routes to explore on foot or by bike. The marked Vandvejen cycling route runs across the Stenderup Peninsula through the Stenderup Woods and along the coast of the Little Belt. Nørreskoven, Agtrup Bomhus, is one of the facilities along the route. Separate from this are the hiking routes in Stenderup Nørreskov: the Nørreskoven, Agtrup Bomhus, access point leads to many hiking routes. A sign at the car park there shows the hiking routes and provides information about facilities in the forest. This distinction can help you plan your day: Vandvejen is marked as a cycling route, while the access point and sign are associated with the hiking trails in the forest. There is also a small gravel car park at Agtrup Vig. It is a separate landmark and should not be confused with the car park at Nørreskoven, Agtrup Bomhus.

Local History and Cultural Heritage

The area’s history also has several specific points of interest. Agtrup Mølle, also known as “Vennermindet,” stands at the top of Møllebakken. Its location on Møllebakken gives this historical theme a specific place to visit; at Gammelgård, by contrast, several time periods take centre stage. In the 17th century, the farm was what was known as a half-royal tenant farm, and it has been owned by the Eeg family since 1845. The two dates have different significance: the 17th century describes its historical status, while 1845 marks the start of the family’s ongoing ownership. Agtrup Frørenseri adds another strand to the area’s history: it was founded by Mads Kehlet in 1911. Local history thus encompasses both a site with a named location and the history of a farm and industry.
