Vojens
Accommodation in Vojens
A stay in Vojens can appeal to a range of interests: industrial history, archaeological traces, routes for walking or cycling, and a water park. The railway station, bus connections, and distance to the E45 also help you plan your arrival.
Industrial and local history
In 1901, manufacturer Hans Gram built a 100 m² machine workshop in Vojens. The “Brdr. Grams historiske og køletekniske museum” tells the story of the Gram refrigerator factory, which developed from a village smithy into a modern industrial company. These two points offer different perspectives: the workshop is defined by a specific year and area, while the company’s history describes a transformation. If you are interested in the history of technology, you can consider the construction of a workshop and the development of an industrial business as two aspects of local history.
Archaeological traces
At the site of the Skrydstrup Bronze Age house on Over Jerstalvej, between house numbers 37 and 39, you can see the outline and post markings of the enormous Bronze Age house. It was excavated in 1993. Six information boards describe the history of the house. The visible outline and post markings bring the floor plan to life, while the house’s history adds historical context. This makes it possible to focus your visit on a specific archaeological subject.
Walking and cycling
Four walking routes are signposted in the tunnel valley between Haderslev and Vojens. You can also walk the entire route from Haderslev to Vojens, which is about 14 km long. These are different points of reference: the number four refers to marked routes in the tunnel valley, while the approximately 14 km refers to the full route between the two towns. When planning, you can distinguish between the signposted routes in the tunnel valley and a continuous walk between Haderslev and Vojens.
A walking route along Hærvejen provides a connection to Vojens. By bike, the route from Jels to Rødekro passes through the town. The details vary by mode of transport and route: Hærvejen refers to a walking connection to Vojens, while the cycling route runs between Jels and Rødekro and passes through Vojens. If you are planning around a particular route, you can first distinguish between a walk and a cycling route.
Getting there and other interests
Vojens railway station is in the town centre, with good bus connections from the station. The E45 motorway is about a 5–10-minute drive from Vojens. These are two different points of reference for getting there: the station and bus connections for public transport, and the approximate driving time to the E45. When looking for a hotel, you can first decide which way of travelling will shape your stay, then choose the routes and topics you would like to include.
Vojens Svømmehal has a water park with several pools and a waterslide. This adds a swimming option to the walking and cycling activities. Vojens Speedway Center opened in September 1975, providing a dated historical reference point for motorsport history.
