Borup combines a town centre designated as a cultural environment with church architecture, art and trails. When planning your trip, you can choose cultural history or activities on foot or by bike as different focuses. The range extends from the origins of Borup Kino to the 22-kilometre Køge Å Trail, which ends at Borup station.

Town History, Church and Art

Borup’s centre is designated as a cultural environment because of its well-preserved railway-town character and many beautiful houses dating from the town’s founding period. The town centre therefore offers a concrete point of reference for anyone interested in the town’s development.

One dated trace of this history is Borup Kino: Steen Gregersen founded it on 21 April 1924 in the Afholdshjemmet at Lindevej 3. Borup Church offers a different perspective on the cultural heritage. It is a Gothic hall church in which the nave and chancel form a single long church interior. It also has an intricately carved pulpit in the cartilage Baroque style, dating from 1630. The church interior and pulpit provide two different points of reference if you are interested in architecture and historic furnishings.

The cultural centre is also part of Borup’s cultural focus. Skovbo Art Association holds six art exhibitions a year in the function room. The programme may change; check which exhibition dates are current before your visit.

Trails and Nature Around Borup

The Køge Å Trail is a 22-kilometre cycling and hiking route. It follows the river Køge Å and the Ås hills from Køge via Dyndet in Borup to Borup station. Along the way, follow the wooden posts or blue metal signs. The route points mentioned help you place the route between Køge, Dyndet and Borup.

There is also a waymarked walking route through the town: it leads from Møllelundparken to the cultural centre, continues through the centre, passes under Bækgårdsvej and reaches the park by the stream. For planning purposes, you can therefore choose between two different scales: the 22-kilometre cycling and hiking route between Køge and Borup station, and the waymarked walking route through Borup.
