If you’re looking for a hotel in Dobříš, the castle, town museum and various walking routes can shape how you experience the town. The attractions cover different themes, from the castle’s history and an exhibition to QR-code puzzles, stops in the town center, and routes focused on nature and cultural history. This lets you tailor your stay to the topics you’d like to explore further.

Dobříš Castle: History and Exhibitions

The castle acquired its present appearance during its reconstruction from 1745 to 1765. An earlier fire had almost destroyed the building. The history of its present form is therefore closely tied to this period of reconstruction. The Colloredo-Mannsfeld exhibition is on the first floor of the south wing.

The exhibition combines rooms furnished in a contemporary style, as they probably looked in the 17th and 18th centuries, with modernly designed spaces. These feature large touchscreens and projections. During a visit, you’ll encounter two different ways of presenting the material: the design of historic rooms and digital exhibition spaces.

An audio guide for your own phone is available for the interactive tour. Alternatively, you can borrow an MP4 device free of charge at the exhibition entrance. The French Park offers a different focus: it covers two hectares and is considered a rare example of Rococo garden architecture. The castle rooms, digital exhibition features and garden architecture each offer their own cultural-history themes.

The castle’s Oranžérie houses interactive exhibitions for the whole family, the gallery of Zdeněk and Emilie Miler, and an exhibition about the castle gardens. If you’re interested in art and garden history, you’ll find several different exhibition themes here in one place.

Town Museum and Outdoor Puzzles

The Muzeum města Dobříše is housed in the late Baroque Kopáčkův dům. The building’s history dates back to the 15th century. The historic house and museum offer another way to explore the town’s history, alongside the castle exhibitions.

With “Exponáty v ulicích,” the museum offers an interactive outdoor game. QR codes at individual stops are clues to find as you play and use to solve the puzzles. The route is about 2.5 km long and takes around 40 minutes to walk. Allow extra time for the puzzles and finding the QR codes. As the operator may update the route length and duration, it’s best to check the details before setting out.

Town Walks and Routes in Nature

The Small Loop (Malý okruh) goes through the center of Dobříš. At its 21 stops, you can learn about historic places in the town. A second town walk leaves the center and leads into quieter neighborhoods. Its 18 stops focus on Dobříš’s industry and the surrounding nature. The two walks therefore have different focuses: historic places in the center, or industry and nature beyond the center.

If you’re looking for a route focused on nature and cultural history, the Lesní stezka leads out of the built-up area and into nature. Its 15 stops introduce remarkable natural and cultural-historical sites around Dobříš. Another thematic option is the Dobříšská stezka poznání – Dobříšova stezka. It opened on April 1, 2025, and features information boards about animals, birds, plants and trees.

For planning purposes, the routes mainly differ in their theme, setting and the time information available. For “Exponáty v ulicích,” an approximate route length and walking time are provided, in addition to the time needed for puzzles and QR codes. The town walks and the Lesní stezka are described by their stops, themes and routes through the center, quieter neighborhoods or areas beyond the built-up area.
