Drahlín: Chapels, archaeological site and marked routes
Accommodation in Drahlín
If you are considering Drahlín as a destination, you will find several distinct points of interest: chapels with their own dedications and construction dates, an archaeological site, and marked hiking and cycling routes. A prominent landmark on the Brdy ridge and the butterfly species recorded at Louky u Drahlína round out the picture. This makes it possible to choose a destination based on specific details about the area.
Chapels in Drahlín and Malý Drahlín
The chapel in Drahlín stands on the village green, is dedicated to Saint Wenceslas, and was built in 1896. Its original bell was used for military purposes during the Nazi occupation. In Malý Drahlín, the chapel is dedicated to Saint John; it was built in 1890. Images of saints can be seen inside through its window. The six-year gap between the construction dates offers a clear point of comparison, while the dedications identify the chapels' different patrons.
Tvrziště Drahlín: archaeological traces
West of the village centre and adjacent to the local sports field lies the archaeological site of Tvrziště Drahlín, “Na Hradišti.” Its features include the remains of collapsed cellars, a ditch, and traces of an outer rampart. The location and findings provide two different points of reference: the sports field helps locate the site in relation to the village centre, while the cellar remains, ditch, and rampart traces define its archaeological character. The site therefore offers a different way to explore local history than the chapels do.
Marked hiking and cycling routes
For hiking, Drahlín has two routes heading in different directions. A marked red hiking trail runs from Čenkov via Dominikální Paseky through Drahlín to Obecnice. In the Drahlín area, a marked green trail branches off from the red trail and heads north into the CHKO Brdy Protected Landscape Area. You can distinguish the trails by their destinations: the red trail connects the places named above via Drahlín, while the green trail branches off and heads north. When choosing a route, it is therefore important to consider whether you are interested in the connection from Čenkov to Obecnice or the northern branch into the CHKO Brdy Protected Landscape Area.
A specific route is also given for cycling: marked cycle route 302 runs through Drahlín and Obecnice and continues to Příbram. Drahlín is also connected via cycle route 302 as part of the Velký jinecký okruh. This makes it possible to distinguish the hiking trails by their markings and destinations from the cycling connection, which runs through a sequence of towns as far as Příbram. The route information offers different points of reference when deciding whether Drahlín is the right destination for a hiking or cycling trip.
Landscape and nature
The EBR radiolocation station, named Malý Drahlín, is a prominent landmark on the Brdy ridge above Drahlín. Together with the green hiking trail, it offers two ways to experience the landscape: the station is identified as a landmark on the ridge, while the trail leads north into the CHKO Brdy Protected Landscape Area. The highly endangered, specially protected butterfly species Modrásek očkovaný (Maculinea teleius) and Modrásek bahenní (Maculinea nausithous) are also recorded at Louky u Drahlína. Alongside the chapels and archaeological traces, these specific landscape and nature features are among the distinct themes associated with Drahlín.
