Třebsko offers several specific points of interest for a stay: an archaeological site, a parish church, a remarkable organ and a pilgrimage route that passes through the village. If you are looking for a hotel in Třebsko, you can plan your trip around whether archaeological history, sacred music or a pilgrimage hike is your main focus.

Hrádek: layout and interpretation

The square rampart at Třebsko Hrádek dates from the Late La Tène period. The site is thought to belong to the type of Celtic square cult enclosures. It was once considered a military camp from the Thirty Years’ War. Thus, an earlier military interpretation and the archaeological classification as a cult enclosure coexist.

The earthwork forms a rectangle measuring 96 × 67 m. The accompanying ditch is about as deep as the rampart is high; the raised rampart stands more than 2 m high on the best-preserved side. The dimensions and distinct components give the site a clearly defined profile: the rectangle, ditch and rampart are all part of its description.

The archaeological site lies on the slope of Na hrádkách Hill, above the right bank of the Hrádecký-Třebský stream. The village’s history also has its own date: Třebsko was first mentioned in writing in 1367. This year stands alongside the much earlier dating of Hrádek.

Parish church and organ

The parish church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary stands on a rise on the southern edge of Třebsko. It is associated with the Antonín Dvořák Music Festival and is one of its concert venues. The church’s location and its connection to the festival give it a distinctive place among the village’s cultural highlights.

Another cultural highlight is the organ by Gotthard Welzel. The instrument, made in 1703, is now in Třebsko. In 1960, it was transferred to Třebsko from the Church of St. Anne in Kostelec nad Orlicí. Its history thus includes both the year it was made and a specific relocation.

The façade pipes are particularly ornate; their decoration is described as unique in Bohemia. Impressive acanthus carvings add to their appeal. For those interested in historical instruments, the organ offers not only a date of origin but also decorative craftsmanship that makes it more than just a year on a timeline.

Pilgrimage route and getting there

The pilgrimage route from Březnice to Svatá Hora passes through Chrást, Třebsko and Příbram. The full route is listed as 20.5 km long, with a moderate elevation gain. This makes the hike a distinct travel option with a specific distance. Hiking conditions may vary and should be factored into your plans.

For travel to the area, regional bus route 567 connects Příbram, Třebsko and Rožmitál pod Třemšínem. The corresponding timetable has been valid since 14 December 2025. Check the latest departure times before travelling so you can plan your journey accordingly.

What to consider when choosing a hotel

The contrast between cultural history and hiking can help focus your hotel search: Hrádek is notable for its archaeological interpretation and dimensions, while the organ stands out for its history of construction and relocation, as well as its decoration. By contrast, the pilgrimage route is described in terms of its total length and elevation gain. Consider whether your trip will focus more on historical sites or the hiking route before searching for a hotel.
