Lískovice is home to a range of local points of interest: the Church of St. Nicholas, the castle site, Temník Pond and two named cycling routes. If you are planning a hotel stay in the village, you can choose your focus based on these specific features—from sacred architecture and historical dates to waterside vegetation, birdlife or cycling routes.

Culture and local history

The Church of St. Nicholas stands on a rise on the northern edge of Lískovice, in the middle of the cemetery. It is a rectangular, single-nave building with a rectangular presbytery and a square entrance porch on the west side. “Single-nave” describes a building with one main nave; the presbytery is the chancel. Thus, the building comprises two rectangular sections and a square entrance porch. The west side of the porch anchors the building’s design to a compass direction; the rise and the northern edge of the village, by contrast, locate the church within the village.

The castle site in Lískovice lies near House No. 50 and consists of an oval mound with a partly preserved moat. Unlike the church, the focus here is on the shape of the terrain and the surviving section of the moat. The fortress of Lískovice is mentioned in 1357, 1499 and 1551, and had already been abandoned in the second half of the 16th century. Tereziny Dary was founded in 1777. Thus, the fortress’s recorded mentions and abandonment are set against a separate founding date.

Temník Pond and birdlife

Temník Pond near Lískovice covers 13.77 ha and is considered one of the region’s most valuable bird sites. Its waterside vegetation consists of 65% cattails, 25% reeds and 10% low-growing littoral vegetation; these proportions may change over time. The percentages refer to the waterside vegetation; together they divide it into three vegetation groups, not into parts of the pond’s surface area. Littoral vegetation refers to low-growing plants in the area close to the water’s edge. The reed beds were home to a breeding colony averaging about 10 pairs of grey herons; up to 3 pairs of western marsh harriers and 8 pairs of black-necked grebes also bred there. An average is given for the grey herons, while a maximum is given for each of the other two species. The area refers to the pond, while the breeding figures refer to the reed beds. The figures refer to breeding pairs, not individual birds.
