Accommodation in Provodov-Šonov
Provodov-Šonov is considered a recreation and fishing center near the Rozkoš Reservoir. Its tourist amenities include services, dining, accommodation and sporting activities. The destination thus combines opportunities for relaxation with specific natural and cultural points of interest: the Dubno Nature Reserve, historic churches and a history of fortifications, as well as routes of varying lengths. If you are looking for a hotel, these themes can help you match the character of the destination with your own travel interests. The key question is whether you are most interested in the landscape, history or a particular route.
Nature and recreation
In the village district of Kleny, Dubno encompasses a floodplain forest, meadows and the Zlíčský rybník pond. The area has been a nature reserve since 1956. Its protected status gives the natural theme a historical dimension, while the historic buildings can be explored through their construction, renovation and demolition dates. Landscape and architectural history thus offer distinct interests. If you would like to take a named natural area into account when choosing a destination, Dubno offers a specific point of reference.
Routes of varying lengths
The Cyklookruh Rozkoš cycle route passes through the village districts of Šonov, Provodov, Šeřeč and Kleny. It is about 18.8 kilometers long and takes approximately one hour and twelve minutes without breaks. Together, the distance and the estimated time excluding breaks provide a concrete basis for planning the route. Since the time estimate does not include breaks, you can plan your own stops separately and adapt the estimate to your stay.
The “Po stopách bojů války 1866” route is 35 kilometers long and passes through Václavice, Šonov, Provodov, Kleny and Dubno. It is marked with KČT route numbers 4018, 4055 and 4056. Compared with the approximately 18.8-kilometer Cyklookruh Rozkoš, this route is significantly longer. The routes also differ in the places mentioned: Šonov, Provodov and Kleny appear in both descriptions; the 35-kilometer route also mentions Václavice and Dubno, while Šeřeč is additionally included on the Cyklookruh. The theme also gives the longer route a distinct focus: its name refers to the war of 1866.
Architectural history and memorials
Šonov Fortress was probably built before 1564 and demolished at the end of the 18th century. The Church of St. Wenceslas in Dobenín underwent an early Gothic renovation that may correspond to the year 1325 mentioned in written sources. The connection to 1325 remains a possibility. The church’s architectural features also indicate that it could provide protection from an enemy if needed. Its architectural history is therefore linked to a possible former protective function.
The Evangelical Church in Šonov was built in 1864. The monument to the VI Army Corps is considered the oldest monument to the war of 1866; it was erected in 1868. Only four years separate the construction of the church from the erection of the monument, but the dates refer to different things: a church building and a monument to the war of 1866. The historical themes thus range from the fortress and early Gothic renovation to 19th-century buildings and monuments.
