Vysoká Srbská can be explored through three specific aspects of a stay: views of the surrounding mountain ranges, historic architectural styles, and routes for walking, cycling or cross-country skiing. This lets you choose where to stay based on the kind of trip you have in mind. If you are looking for scenery and a sense of direction, the lookout tower offers a wide-ranging panorama; the chapel and several historic architectural styles are part of the area’s history. For active days, the focus is on trails with named destinations and varying conditions.

Views and Scenery

The Na Větrné horce lookout tower is 18 metres high, with its observation platform 15 metres above the ground. From there, the view stretches to the Polish Table Mountains, including Bor and Hejšovina, as well as Ostaš, the Javoří Mountains and Teplické skály, and the Krkonoše and Orlické Mountains. The tower is open year-round, and admission is free. Check access conditions before your visit.

The Bohadlova lime tree offers a different natural highlight. It is a protected individual tree in the cadastral area of Vysoká Srbská, within the Broumovsko Protected Landscape Area (CHKO Broumovsko). Surveys from 2001 and 2010 estimate its age at 140 years and give its height as 22 metres. The lookout tower and the lime tree thus represent two different perspectives: views across several landscapes and a single protected tree.

Chapel and Historic Architectural Styles

The Chapel of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is considered a historic monument and a symbol of Vysoká Srbská. It dates from the second half of the 19th century and underwent extensive reconstruction; it was solemnly reconsecrated on 9 October 2010. One notable detail is its 64-kilogram bronze bell. It bears the inscription “Saint Wenceslas, pray for us” and the municipal coat of arms of Vysoká Srbská.

There is also a stone cross in the centre of the village. Historic buildings include timber log houses and brick houses from the 19th century. The local architecture thus encompasses both timber and masonry construction. The period when the chapel was built and its later reconsecration also mark different stages in its history: its construction in the 19th century and its restoration in 2010.

Hiking and Cycling Trails

A red-marked hiking trail runs from Hronov through Vysoká Srbská, via Machov and on to the Broumovské stěny. Cycle Route 4152 also passes through the village, between Police nad Metují and Kudowa-Zdrój. The destinations named for the two routes differ: Machov and the Broumovské stěny lie further along the hiking trail, while Police nad Metují and Kudowa-Zdrój are the endpoints of the cycle route. Conditions on the cycle route may change; check its current course before setting out.

The Tkalcovský stezník runs via Závrchy and Sedmákovice to Vysoká Srbská and onward to Hronov. These place names help you follow the route. Depending on the outing you have planned, different destinations may be the focus: a hiking connection via Machov, a cycling route between two named places, or the Tkalcovský stezník as it passes through its intermediate stops.

Cross-Country Skiing in Winter

The Hronovská smyčka is a 5.5-kilometre, green-marked cross-country ski trail for classic technique. It heads towards Vysoká Srbská, passes the cemetery and continues to the edge of the forest. Unlike the lookout tower, which is open year-round, use of the ski trail depends on snow conditions and grooming. Check these conditions before setting out: the trail’s length, marking and technique describe the route, while snow and grooming determine whether it is suitable for your planned winter day.
