Chodau: Bílá voda, Culture and City History
Accommodation in Chodau
Chodau offers you different options for your stay: outdoor activities at Bílá voda, cultural sites and a traditional event. What would you like to do, and what timing considerations are important? These questions can help you plan the focus of your trip.
Leisure around Bílá voda
The Bílá voda leisure area is 1.6 kilometres northwest of Chodau town centre. A 1.5-kilometre path runs around the reservoir, with fitness equipment along the way. The two distances answer different questions: 1.6 kilometres describes the leisure area's location in relation to the town centre, while 1.5 kilometres is the length of the circular path. This lets you consider the location and the route length separately.
In summer, Bílá voda has a pontoon, refreshments, changing rooms and a well-maintained sandy beach. These facilities are seasonal. If you plan to use them during your stay, it is therefore a good idea to check what is currently available before travelling.
Another activity is the Pumptrack u Bílé vody. It opened on 2 June 2018; the facility was designed for bicycles, skateboards, longboards, inline skates and scooters. Alongside the circular path around the reservoir and the fitness equipment, it offers different ways to enjoy wheeled activities. If you want to include the pump track in your plans, check current access arrangements before your visit.
Culture and events
The Baroque Church of sv. Vavřince was built between 1725 and 1733. Its construction period offers a specific historical reference point if you would also like to discover Chodau through its architectural history.
The second floor of Galerie u Vavřince houses exhibition rooms. This adds another cultural venue to the church, with a different focus from the activities at Bílá voda.
The traditional Vavřinecká pouť brings Staroměstská and Bezručova ulice in Chodau to life. Dates and the programme vary from year to year. If you would like to plan your trip around the event, check the specific dates and programme for your travel year.
Planning ahead
The Chodov Tourist Information Centre provides information about accommodation, food and drink, cultural and sporting events, and sights in Chodau and the surrounding area. It also sells reserved tickets for domestic and international bus services. You can therefore find information there both about your stay and about what is available locally and in the surrounding area.
If you need either of these services for your plans, ask about the current information or ticket service before travelling. Both services may change.
The conditions for different activities vary when choosing your travel dates: the facilities at Bílá voda are associated with summer, while the dates and programme of the Vavřinecká pouť vary from year to year. These differences can help you plan your trip around the activities that interest you in Chodau.
