Stříbrná offers several distinct ways to enjoy a stay in the Ore Mountains. In winter, these range from downhill runs at the Lišák ski area to cross-country skiing on the Krušnohorská magistrála; marked hiking and cycling trails make it possible to explore the western Ore Mountains. Other highlights include the summit of Špičák, the Skalní město u Stříbrné rock formation and the Neo-Gothic Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. You can choose the focus of your trip according to your preferred activities and the season.

Lišák Ski Area

The Lišák ski area is in Stříbrná, at the foot of the Ore Mountains. It has just under 3.5 kilometres of ski runs at elevations of 630 to 790 metres. The runs include a green beginner slope, a wide intermediate slalom slope, the forested Touristická sjezdovka and the black run “Rukáv”. The named runs therefore differ both in their difficulty ratings and in their character. Operations depend on natural snowfall; run availability and grooming are seasonal.

Cross-country skiing, hiking and cycling

For cross-country skiers, the Krušnohorská magistrála connects nearby Bublava with Boží Dar. Unlike the individual downhill runs at Lišák, this route links localities for cross-country skiing. Trail grooming is seasonal. Check current conditions before setting out. The difference is useful when choosing a winter activity: Lišák offers downhill runs with different difficulty ratings, while the magistrála is a cross-country ski route.

Stříbrná has numerous marked hiking and cycling trails for exploring the western Ore Mountains. One specific hike leads to Špičák in the Rájecké údolí: from Stříbrná, first follow a red-marked trail and then a green-marked trail to the summit. You can reach the start by bus from Kraslice to Stříbrná; from there, continue on foot or by bicycle. Bus services and trail conditions may change. Check both before your trip.

To the summit of Špičák

Špičák reaches an elevation of 991 metres. There is a shelter and a summit logbook at the top. From Špičák, you can enjoy views of the western side of the Ore Mountains; visibility and vegetation can affect how far you can see. The shelter and logbook may change or require maintenance. If you plan to use these facilities on your trip, check their condition before visiting.

Rock formations and climbing

Skalní město u Stříbrné consists of quartzite rocks with towers ranging from 3 to 20 metres in height. Most climbing routes are equipped with expansion bolts and traditional pitons. Protection and route conditions may change; if you plan to climb there, check the current conditions before setting out.

Church and local history

The first written references to Stříbrná date back to 1601 and are associated with the Stříbrný potok. A much later historical landmark is the Neo-Gothic Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Stříbrná, which dates from 1909 to 1910.
