Bílá Voda U Javorníka offers several distinct reasons to visit: the pilgrimage church and the history of the Piarists, the Museum of Isolation, Internment and Integration, and routes for cyclists. When looking for a hotel, consider whether you would like to focus primarily on architectural and religious history, the museum’s themes, or a particular route.

Pilgrimage Church and Piarist History

The Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary and the former Piarist college have formed the spiritual and historical centre of Bílá Voda for centuries. The church’s present appearance is the result of the Baroque reconstruction of a smaller church that Baron Kryštof von Maltitz had built between 1602 and 1604. Bílá Voda was the first Piarist foundation in all of Silesia. At the solemn consecration of the pilgrimage church in 1777, seminarians performed a play watched by around 4,000 people. The Piarist seminary also served as a venue for music concerts and theatrical performances.

Museum and Local History

The Museum of Isolation, Internment and Integration presents the history of Bílá Voda from the settlement’s first written mentions as Wyssoká, through Weissasser, to its later resettlement. The second section documents the internment of nuns in Bílá Voda. This period began on 28 September 1950, when the first transport arrived as part of Operation R, which aimed to dissolve female religious orders. The cemetery in Bílá Voda is the final resting place of around 700 nuns. The historical span presented thus encompasses early references to the settlement and its later resettlement, as well as a precisely dated chapter in the town’s history.

Routes and Landscape

Marked cycling route 6044 is 37 km long and runs from Bílá Voda via Růženec and Javorník through Račí údolí to Uhelná and Vlčice, ending at Hraničky. Its length and sequence of places provide practical guidance for planning your ride; check current route conditions before setting off. The Stezka Slezskem reaches Bílá Voda via the border ridge of the Rychlebské Mountains and continues from there to Javorník and Vidnava. The two routes can be distinguished by their different details: route 6044 is defined by its length and sequence of stops, while the Stezka Slezskem follows the border ridge and continues through further towns.

The Kraví Rocks above the route near Bílá Voda are used by climbers. The former castle park in Bílá Voda was laid out in the second half of the 18th century. The smaller church and the park therefore mark different periods in the town’s history: the church was built between 1602 and 1604, while the park was created later.
