Černá Voda offers several options for a trip focused on cycling, nature and architectural history. The Rychlebské Trails start and finish in the village; nearby, trails lead to a protected granite formation. Historic buildings are also among the sights. When planning your trip, it is worth first considering which of these interests matters most to you.

Cycling and finding your way around

The Rychlebské Trails start and finish in Černá Voda, at the car park in front of the cultural center by the church. This gives cyclists a specific reference point for planning their stay. The seasonal Rychlebské Trails information center in Černá Voda offers trail maps, bicycle and equipment rentals, a Merida test center, and a service area. Since the center is seasonal, take its availability into account when planning your trip.

For further directions while on the way, follow the route description to the Rampa quarry: leave Černá Voda toward Žulová, turn left and ride past the grocery store. Road conditions and local businesses may change, so check the route before visiting.

Granite landscape and trails

The Sokolí vrch massif is part of Černá Voda’s main panorama. Its terrain features granite boulders, rocky outcrops, flooded quarries and deep beech forests.

Nearby is Venušiny misky, a national natural monument protecting a distinctive granite formation. From Černá Voda, the viewpoint can be reached via an approximately 4 km green-marked hiking trail.

Another option is the “Naučná stezka nejen pro handicapované u Černé Vody” (Educational Trail for People with and without Disabilities near Černá Voda). It is suitable for wheelchair users and parents with strollers. Check local conditions before setting out.

Buildings and local history

The ruins of Kaltenštejn Castle lie just south of Černá Voda. Its well-preserved remains include buildings, fortifications and a tower. Those interested in historic sites will find a different subject here than at the village’s churches: the focus is on the structural remains of a castle complex.

The Church of the Name of the Virgin Mary was built in 1787–1788 and became a parish church in 1843. It is a protected monument and has an enclosing wall as well as statues of Saint John the Evangelist and Our Lady of Sorrows.

Another chapel, the Chapel of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, stands on the road to the settlement of Rokliny. It dates from around the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries.

The late Renaissance château in Černá Voda stands together with its chapel. According to a notice dated March 1, 2023, it was not open to the public. Check access arrangements again before visiting. A different kind of activity is offered at V Podhradí Ranch, where visitors can take part in a training session with Western horses.

Choose the right focus for your trip

If you are looking for a hotel for a trip to Černá Voda, first decide what you want your days to focus on. For cyclists, the Rychlebské Trails are an obvious point of reference; for a nature outing, you can consider the approximately 4 km hiking route to Venušiny misky and the educational trail suitable for wheelchair users and strollers as two different options. If you are more interested in architectural history, you can visit the church, chapel and castle ruins. This way, you can choose your destination based on the activities you actually plan to do.
