Archaeology in Bezdědovice
The burial mound site U bílých kamenů is designated as an important archaeological site in Bezdědovice. The early medieval cemetery comprises three burial mounds. Archaeological investigations of two of the mounds at the beginning of the 20th century revealed remains of cremation burials. The three mounds indicate the extent of the site; the investigation findings explicitly relate to two of them. Two time references should be kept distinct: “early medieval” classifies the cemetery, while “at the beginning of the 20th century” dates the investigations. This distinction separates the dating of the site from the later history of its investigation.
Rýžoviště zlata cultural site
The Rýžoviště zlata cultural site preserves an extensive field of gold-washing mounds, pits and channels on both banks of the Závišínský potok stream. The three forms give the gold-washing theme a concrete shape: the focus is not a single mound, but an extensive area with multiple features. To understand the site, its extent and its different forms can be considered together, keeping both its spatial scale and its individual features in view.
Building history in Paštiky
The Baroque Church of St John the Baptist in Paštiky was built from 1747 to 1753 to designs by Kilián Ignác Dienzenhofer. The cemetery chapel at the church was also built to Dientzenhofer’s designs and was converted into the Hildprandt family crypt in 1846. The events should be distinguished chronologically: 1747 to 1753 marks the church’s construction phase, while 1846 marks the chapel’s conversion. The shared architectural attribution connects the two buildings, while the later conversion marks a separate chapter in the chapel’s history. Compared with the early medieval cemetery in Bezdědovice, the historical focus here is on different themes: archaeology in one place, and a Baroque church and the chapel’s later use as a family crypt in the other.
Cycling loop through Paštiky
Official cycling loop No. 2 follows the route Blatná–Paštiky–Chobot–Myštice–Lom–Škvořetice–Buzice–Blatná through Paštiky. The sequence of route numbers is also described for the section from Blatná via Paštiky: it initially follows Route 311, switches to Cycle Route 1062 shortly before Myštice, and turns onto Route 31 at Lom. This makes it possible to distinguish No. 2, the designation for the entire loop, from the numbers for individual sections. The loop number designates the complete circuit; the other numbers specify the course of the section described. Check the route numbers and course again before setting off.
