Accommodation in Nové Dvory U Doksan
Nové Dvory is shaped by the historic agricultural landscape along the Ohře and its specific cultural monuments. Two circular cycling routes pass through Nové Dvory; their total distances and routes offer a direct comparison for planning your ride.
Cultural history and monuments
The first written mention of Nové Dvory dates back to 1451. One specific landmark is the Boží muka wayside shrine near house number 10: this protected wayside cross, or shrine, is a stone Renaissance wayside shrine dating from the second half of the 16th century and is listed as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. The first written mention and the dated structure represent different milestones in the village’s history.
Only remains of the Novodvorský Mill survive, hidden in a farmyard. This historical reference differs from the precisely located wayside shrine: only concealed remains of the mill have survived.
Chvalín is also part of the municipality. Its Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk is listed as an immovable cultural monument. The place name is also included in both of the described cycling routes, which pass through Chvalín and Nové Dvory.
The Ohře landscape and natural features
Nové Dvory lies in a historic agricultural landscape shaped by the Ohře as its defining feature. Natural features along the Ohře in the planning area include oxbow lakes and floodplain woodland complexes. The Ohře associated with Nové Dvory is designated as a European Site of Community Importance within the Natura 2000 network. The river, the character of the landscape, and its protected status are interconnected aspects of the local surroundings.
The municipality includes the functional supraregional biocentre NRBC 2002 Myslivna na Ohři, located on the NRBK K11 biocorridor. At the local level, the Čepel stream and the remaining riverside trees form a biocorridor throughout the planning area. These different scales add another nuance to the description of the landscape: alongside the supraregional biocentre on the Ohře corridor is the local connection between the stream and the riverside trees.
