Prackovice nad Labem lies on the left bank of the Elbe, on the southern slope of Debus. From the river, the municipality stretches into hilly terrain, towards basalt hills and extensive pastures. There are several ways to shape your stay: the Elbe landscape, local history and marked hiking trails.

A river landscape between the Elbe and the hills

The municipality's landscape includes wooded peaks, the Elbe breakthrough valley—Porta Bohemica, also known as Litochovické skály—Kubačka, Debus and Výsluní. The landscape also encompasses preserved fragments of natural woodland and continuous treeless areas with rocky slopes. Riverbanks, hills and open, rocky areas give the municipality a varied landscape.

Railway and hiking trails

The ČD railway stop in Prackovice is about a five-minute walk from the municipal office and the village centre. The Děčín–Prague railway line runs between the municipality and the Elbe. If you are travelling by train, check the timetable for your travel date.

Two marked hiking trails start at the railway station in Litochovice nad Labem. The green-marked trail runs over the rocky slope of Porta Bohemica to Malé Žernoseky; the yellow-marked trail follows roads and local paths to Dobkovičky. This gives you a clear idea of what to expect: a rocky slope on the green route, roads and local paths on the yellow one.

Churches and small monuments

The Church of St. Matthew in Prackovice is first mentioned in 1352; it was probably originally Gothic. Its present appearance dates from a remodelling in the Empire style around 1800. It is a prominent landmark when viewed from the southeast, south and west. The tall tower on the west façade adds to its impact.

In the district of Litochovice nad Labem stands the Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk, a Baroque rectangular plastered building with a rounded end. Its façade features a volute gable with rich stucco decoration. Volutes are rolled ornamental forms that give the gable a curved outline. The Baroque building creates a different architectural accent from the present-day appearance of the Church of St. Matthew, shaped by its Empire-style remodelling.

Small crosses and wayside shrines stand in the municipality's fields. The district of Litochovice is also home to a ruined plague column from the 17th century.

Agriculture and a local event

Historically, Prackovice and Litochovice were known for their extensive vineyards and fruit growing. This agricultural history adds another perspective on local history alongside the religious buildings.

The traditional fishing competition “Rybářské závody – Memoriál Václava Jakubíčka” takes place at the end of August in a meadow by the Elbe in Litochovice nad Labem. In 2026, it was scheduled for 22 August. If you wish to plan a trip around a future edition, check the event dates for the relevant year.
