The municipality also names the České středohoří and Žatecko tourism areas as possible destinations to set out for. This lets you decide whether you would like to link your stay more closely with a cycling route, local history or planning a regional trip.

The Louny–Peruc cycling route

For cyclists, the 22 km Louny–Peruc cycling route is a specific point of reference. Its course runs through Černčice, Veltěže, Slavětín, Kystra, Radonice, Pátek and Stradonice to Peruc. Veltěže is therefore on the named route. Its length and the sequence of places provide a clear basis for including the route in your travel plans. Route details may change; check the current route before setting out. The route offers a different focus from the local cultural and historical topics, and can therefore help shape your stay.

Chapel and local history

The Chapel of St. Florian stands on the district road near the village centre. Built in the Neo-Romanesque style, it has two semicircular side windows; pilaster strips divide the walls. Pilaster strips are narrow, slightly projecting bands on a wall that visually structure a façade. Together with the shape of the windows, they give a specific impression of the architecture. Its location near the village centre helps you place the chapel within the village.

Local history also offers several points of interest. At the place in Veltěže known as Zámeček, a pot containing old coins was found in 1790, and an old cellar with iron doors was discovered nearby. Pits and graves of the La Tène culture containing iron finds have been identified. Neolithic stone tools were unearthed near a mill in the vicinity of Veltěže. The findspots therefore range from a named place in the village to fields and the surrounding area. An outing to a spring in a floodplain forest was also part of Veltěže’s community programme.

Library and activities for children

The Veltěže library offers lending services for children, young people and adults. On Fridays, it runs the “kroužek šikovných ručiček” club. Alongside its lending service, it therefore offers a regular activity to consider when planning a visit; the schedule may change, so it is advisable to check the current date in advance.

Another specific activity for children was the pony course run by the Exkalibur Veltěže riding club. The course comprises seven lessons for children aged five to ten, with both theoretical and practical parts. If you are considering the course as part of your travel plans, confirm current availability before booking.

Regional orientation and event

Veltěže can serve as a starting point for the České středohoří and Žatecko tourism areas. This regional perspective complements local points of interest such as the chapel, library and cycling route. If you are including Veltěže in a broader trip, these two areas are therefore useful names to bear in mind when planning.

The Výstava na stromech was held in Veltěže from 5 to 12 October 2024. This nationwide exhibition event takes place every year in October during Fair Work Week. The Veltěže event can therefore be placed specifically within this period; if you are planning a trip for a fixed date, check event dates in advance.
