Vysoká combines local history with a range of outdoor activities. Specific points of interest include the municipality’s first written mention, nature information boards at named locations, and a hiking route and cycling loop with stated distances. Walks in the surrounding area and horseback rides round out the options. If you’re looking for hotels in Vysoká, you can start by deciding which of these interests you want to shape your stay.

History and Nature Information Boards

The municipality of Hohentann (Vysoká) was first mentioned in writing in 1308. Hohentann is the municipality’s historical name; the destination is called Vysoká.

In 2024, the municipality located the nature information board named “Ptáci na krmítku” (Birds at the Feeder) in the village square in front of House No. 6, and the board named “Rybník” (Pond) at the Novosvětský rybník pond. The Czech board names refer to two different subjects—birds at a feeder and a pond—and help distinguish the boards.

Hiking Route and Train Connections

The KČT hiking route leads to the Vysoká lookout peak, which is 585 metres above sea level. The peak and the municipality share the same name, but they are different points of reference: the elevation refers to the peak, while 1308 is the year of the municipality’s first written mention. The hiking route can be shortened to 13.5 kilometres to Mírovka or 18 kilometres to Pohled. Mírovka is therefore the option that is 4.5 kilometres shorter. There are train connections in both Mírovka and Pohled. Check the timetable before your trip so you can factor this connection into your route planning.

Walks, Horseback Rides, and Cycling

The area around Vysoká is suitable for recreational walks. Unlike the KČT route, with its named peak and specified shorter options, walks offer a more general way to experience the area on foot. You can choose between a specific route and a recreational walk based on whether a set destination or the surrounding area itself matters more to you.

The Vysoká riding club offers agritourism in the form of horseback rides in the countryside. For travellers who would rather experience the area in the saddle than on foot, this is a distinct type of excursion.

A cycling loop is named Havlíčkův Brod – Okrouhlička – Vysoká – Havlíčkův Brod and covers 25.5 kilometres. The sequence of places lists Vysoká between Okrouhlička and Havlíčkův Brod, which appears again at the end; the repeated city name makes the loop clear from its name. The 25.5 kilometres refers to the cycling loop as a whole; the 13.5 and 18 kilometres, by contrast, are the two shorter hiking options.
