Discover Pacetluky
Accommodation in Pacetluky
Pacetluky lies on the border between the fertile Haná region and Záhoří. The Kostelecký Forest stretches to the edge of the village; archaeological finds and historic buildings also tell of a long history of settlement. Forest trails, cycling connections and local traditions add to this historical perspective.
Forest Trails and Walks
The Koteleckým lesem nature trail passes through Pacetluky and is 23.8 kilometres long. This length makes it easy to factor into your trip planning. The forest can also be appreciated as a landscape: the Kostelecký Forest is an 800-hectare, wildlife-rich woodland that reaches Pacetluky.
A winter walk in the nearby area runs from Kostelec u Holešova to Líšná. Forest paths lead to viewpoints overlooking Pacetluky and Prusinovice. The nature trail passes through Pacetluky, while the winter walk runs from Kostelec u Holešova to Líšná. The two routes therefore differ in their course and in the viewpoints mentioned for the winter route. According to local tradition, two peaks in the Kostelecký Forest are called Kača and Tereza.
Cycling Routes Through the Region
A cycling route popular with cyclists passes through Pacetluky. It follows a forest track through the Kostelecký Forest and connects to a municipal road from Karlovice. There is also a cycling connection to Holešov, which is part of cycle route 5033, via a paved farm track from Pacetluky through Bořenovice. These offer different points of reference when choosing your route: a forest track connecting to a municipal road from Karlovice, or a paved farm track via Bořenovice to Holešov.
History and Local Buildings
The first written mention of Pacetluky dates to 1131. Archaeological finds trace the history of the surrounding area much further back: stone hammers, axes and flint knives found in the fields of Pacetluky show that the area was inhabited in prehistoric times. Burial mounds in the Kostelecký Forest are attributed to the Neolithic and Bronze Ages.
The chapel, built in 1946, is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary. A cross erected in 1922 stands on the cadastral boundary between Pacetluky and Prusinovice. Another cross, erected in 1909, is opposite the school building in Pacetluky. The two-day village festival Pacetlucké hodové slavnosti is also part of local tradition and has been celebrated for many years.
Historic Places Nearby
The ruins of Hrádek, a former Gothic fortress, lie near Pacetluky. Only the moat remains. The Zámeček, a former hunting lodge built in the mid-18th century that now serves as a forester’s house, is also located in the Kostelecký Forest. The two places represent different historical traces: the surviving remains of a former fortress at Hrádek, and a former hunting lodge at the Zámeček, now used as a forester’s house.
