For trip planning, Naglestad is best explored through two themes: hikes with historical connections and an illuminated cross-country ski trail. The Barnevandrerstien is about 140 kilometres long; the marked Blomliknuten hiking trail starts at Naglestad Skisenter. The Barnevandrerstien represents a long-standing connection between several places; at Blomliknuten, specific information about the trailhead and parking helps you find your way.

The Barnevandrerstien and its connections

The marked Barnevandrerstien is about 140 kilometres long and runs between Kvinesdal and Grimstad. It recalls the children’s journeys of the 19th century and can be reached via Naglestad. This connects the village to a route whose historical significance is suggested by both its name and its course.

A long-distance hiking route follows a side road to Naglestad and Bjennvann. At the northern end of Surtevatnet, it meets the Barnevandrerstien and follows it to Snartemo. From Bjennvann, the Barnevandrerstien passes Mydland and goes down over Mydlandsheia to Snartemo.

Hike to Blomliknuten

Blomliknuten is a well-marked hiking trail that starts at Naglestad Skisenter. A parking area for the hike is signposted in Naglestad, shortly after Lokevannet. From Birkeland, drive along the Rv43 towards Eiken and then towards Naglestad; after about 4.5 kilometres, just before Lokavatnet, there is a large parking area providing access to Blomliknuten. As parking conditions may change, it is worth checking the parking situation shortly before your hike.

There is also a cultural point of interest along the way: a hiking seat bears a brass plaque with the poem “Ord om vennskap” by Helga Åkre Nøkland, as well as a QR code. Another cultural heritage site associated with the hike is an Iron Age burial monument. So finding your way around Blomliknuten involves both information about access and insights into the area’s cultural history.
