Zálesie looks out onto the Malý Dunaj: here, the river forms a large meander that surrounds the town from the northwest to the northeast. Along the riverbank, nature watching, water activities, and distinctive structures come together. This makes the town an interesting choice if, when planning your stay, you want to include not just a single activity but also the river landscape and local history.

The Malý Dunaj and Korzo Zálesie

Korzo Zálesie offers space for walks in nature and for observing wildlife and plant life. The Malý Dunaj near Zálesie is considered a river that has come back to life, with abundant birdlife and fish. The Maják stands on the riverbank near the Záleská lodenica. It serves as an observation tower and is also a point on a hiking route and a cycling route. From the top, there is an unobstructed view extending three kilometres across the river horizon.

Rafting and watercraft

Lodenica Zálesie organizes rafting trips for schools, companies, and the public; it also offers canoes, boats, and catamarans. The two-hour “Malý okruh Zálesie” starts and ends in Zálesie. Another rafting trip goes from the lodenica to the Gešajovské mlyny. Check with the provider in advance to see whether this trip and the watercraft you want are currently available. For a long time, the narrow stretch of riverbank at the Korzo was used by rafting participants to get in and out of the water.

Cycling route between Bratislava and Senec

The regional route “Okolo Korza Zálesie až k Slnečným jazerám” runs from Bratislava via Vrakuňa, Zelená voda, Zálesie, Ivanka pri Dunaji, Bernolákovo, Nová Dedinka, and Tureň to Senec. It is 40 kilometres long and has 149 metres of elevation gain; 90 percent of the route is paved, while 10 percent runs over unpaved sections. The ride is estimated to take two to three hours, including a break in Zálesie. The route is considered suitable for less experienced cyclists and families with children. For planning your time, there are two different time frames to choose from: two to three hours for the cycling trip, including the break in Zálesie, and two hours for the Malý okruh on the water.

Mills, amphitheatre, and chapel

The Gešajovské mlyny are replicas of historic water mills, displayed in the Malý Dunaj near Zálesie, next to the Maják and the Korzo. The project was completed on 17 November 2012, when the mill replicas were placed in the Malý Dunaj. An informative educational trail about water wheels has been accessible at the site since the end of 2012. The Korzo also features a natural amphitheatre, designed for smaller cultural activities and offering a view of the water. The Chapel of the Holy Trinity adds its own historical touch: it was built in 1932. The single-nave space has a segmental-ended presbytery; a statue of Saint Joseph stands in a niche above the main entrance. Zálesie was initially named Gešajov in honour of a benefactor.
