Nature and hiking

Fellering is located in the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park and has an extensive network of hiking trails marked by the Club Vosgien. On the upper slopes of the municipalities of Fellering, Kruth and Wildenstein, the surviving old beech forests are among the natural features of the Massif du Grand Ventron nature reserve. In July 2021, around 400 ha of old beech forests in the Massif du Grand Ventron were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. Fellering therefore combines a connection to a large protected area with a network of marked trails for hikers.

When looking for a hotel in Fellering, you can plan your stay around your interests: hiking, paragliding or hang gliding, swimming or local history each offer a different focus. For a specific property, check whether its location and amenities meet your needs.

Compare hiking trails

The 6-kilometre Tour du village hiking loop runs through Fellering. The Circuit des Sites hiking trail is 8 kilometres long. This makes it easy to compare their lengths: the Circuit des Sites is two kilometres longer. The Tour du village is explicitly described as a loop; if this route type matters for your plans, that clearly distinguishes it from the other named route.

Flying and swimming

The Treh launch site, at an altitude of 1,206 m, is located within the municipality of Fellering. It faces northwest to southwest and is used for paragliding and hang gliding. Whether you can fly depends on the weather.

Fellering’s swimming pool has two outdoor pools measuring 50 × 15 m and 12 × 10 m, and two indoor pools measuring 25 × 10 m and 12 × 10 m. The 50 × 15 m outdoor pool is the largest of the four; among the indoor pools, the 25 × 10 m pool is also significantly larger than the 12 × 10 m pool. The facility also includes two leisure pools, a paddling pool, a diving pool and two 70 m slides. As opening arrangements can vary by season, check the latest opening information before your visit.

Churches and local history

Fellering’s current parish church, Saint-Antoine-abbé, is a neo-Gothic building. Construction began in 1874, and the church was completed in 1880. Fellering’s Protestant temple was built in 1913 and continues to serve as the parish church for the entire valley. There are 33 years between the church’s completion and the construction of the temple. The town’s history thus brings together a late 19th-century neo-Gothic building and a Protestant temple that continues to serve as a parish church.
