When looking for a hotel in Soultzeren, you can choose what interests you most: mountain lakes and high-altitude scenery, a named circular hiking trail, climbing at Le Tanet, or the history of the Protestant church. These highlights offer different ways to plan your stay—from lakeside scenery and a hiking route to a glimpse of local history.

Mountain Lakes at Tanet

Lac Vert is part of the Soultzeren area and lies in the Tanet Massif at an altitude of 1,053 metres. The lake is easy to reach, and there is parking nearby. Both its elevation and a practical point of reference for your visit are therefore clear. If you are interested in a nature-focused stay, Lac Vert is a specific starting point for planning time in the surrounding landscape.

Lac du Forlet, also known as Lac des Truites, lies in a former glacial cirque with steep rock faces. The Gazon du Faing nature reserve is nearby. The two lakes can thus be distinguished by their landscape features: Lac Vert is defined by the Tanet Massif and its stated elevation, while Lac du Forlet is characterized by the glacial cirque, the rock faces and the nearby nature reserve.

Hiking and Climbing at Le Tanet

To reach the “Les Deux Lacs” circular hiking trail, follow the D417 from Munster towards Col de la Schlucht. About five kilometres beyond Soultzeren, turn off towards Le Tanet. The trail passes Ferme du Gaerstlesrain; further uphill on the left is Chalet Erichson, run by Club Vosgien and open to everyone. The starting point, turn-off and landmarks provide specific directions for the route described.

The Le Tanet natural climbing site has routes graded from 3c to 6b. Reach the site via the D417 towards Tanet; it is a ten-minute walk from the Ferme-Auberge Seestaedlé car park. Check your climbing equipment and local restrictions before setting off. Access conditions and parking rules can also change, so it is advisable to check the latest information before your visit.

Church History and Goat Farm

Soultzeren’s Protestant church was built in 1782 to replace a wooden structure. It was partially destroyed by the bombardments of 1915. The new Protestant church was inaugurated on 16 December 1923. This sequence brings together several clearly dated milestones in local history and adds a cultural highlight to the nature and hiking destinations.

The Chèvrerie du Londenbach may also be of interest when planning your visit: it offers tours and goat milking. The farm also sells organic goat’s cheese made from raw milk. Check the current visitor arrangements in advance; product availability may also change.
