Myennes lies on the right bank of the Loire. Architectural history, cycling and a signposted walking trail each offer a different focus for a stay. An official cycling route between Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire and Neuvy-sur-Loire passes through Myennes on the return leg; the red-and-white marked GR®3 also passes through the town on its return to Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire.

Château and ecclesiastical heritage

The Château de Myennes was built in the 17th century and restored in the 19th century. Its neoclassical architecture includes a main building and corner towers. In the 17th century, the de Vieilbourg family secured the elevation of the lordship of Myennes to a marquisate.

The château is privately owned and is generally not open to visitors. However, its silhouette can be viewed from public areas. If you are considering a visit, check access arrangements in advance.

The church in Myennes also offers a tangible glimpse of the town’s heritage: it houses nine protected historic objects recorded by the French Ministry of Culture. The seigneurial chapel of the Church of Saint-Martin contains two tombs dating from the 17th century. Access to individual objects may change; check in advance if you would like to see them in person.

Cycling, hiking and activities on the Loire

The official cycling route between Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire and Neuvy-sur-Loire passes through Myennes on the return leg. The route is listed as 33 kilometres long, with a duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes with electric assistance, and classified as easy. Check current signage and route conditions before setting off.

Those travelling on foot can follow the GR®3: the red-and-white marked trail passes through Myennes on the return to Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire. The two routes differ in their focus: the cycling route is defined by its distance, duration and difficulty rating, while the GR®3 is identified by its markings and its return leg to Cosne. Here, too, it is advisable to check the latest route details before setting off.

Participating venues and dates for these regional offers may vary. The Étang de Bourdoiseau, designated as a fishing lake, is also located near Myennes, between Myennes and La Celle-sur-Loire. Check the applicable rules and access arrangements before going fishing.
