Discover Arrou: Church, Trails and Leisure
Accommodation in Arrou
When looking for a hotel in Arrou, it is worth considering the different things that can shape a stay: the Church of Saint-Lubin, recurring events, trails through varied landscapes and leisure activities. Whether you are planning to enjoy culture, get active or spend time by the water, specific distances, dates and conditions can help you plan.
Church of Saint-Lubin: two construction periods
The Church of Saint-Lubin features elements from two centuries. The choir, nave and Romanesque portal were built from Grison in the 12th century. The side aisles and Gothic gables date from the 15th century and are made of limestone. The building therefore brings together different construction periods and materials. The church also has a large contemporary organ dating from 2006, with about 30 stops. The approximate number of stops and the year it was built give this feature its own cultural significance in Arrou.
Events in February and on May 1
The Troubadours de la Joie stage three theatrical performances in Arrou every February. Exact dates may vary; check them if you want to plan your trip around a performance. The group also holds an event in the heart of Bois Ruffin forest every year on May 1. The program may vary from year to year. The February event and the fixed date in May are two separate occasions to consider when choosing your travel dates.
Hiking trails and landscapes
Two trails of notably different lengths are listed in Vald'Yerre: “Arrou, aux portes du Perche Gouet” is 5.5 km long, while “Le Bois Ruffin” is 23.0 km. Both are classified as easy. The trail lengths provide a clear comparison, but do not replace checking local conditions before setting out. Bois Ruffin is described as a green woodland in the middle of the plain, with diverse vegetation.
Another option for experienced riders is the 35 km “Plaine et vallée de l’Yèvre” route. It passes through varied landscapes between the hills of Perche and the Beauce plain and is better suited to experienced riders. When planning, you can choose between shorter and longer hiking trails and an explicitly more challenging riding route.
Leisure activities and fishing
Behind the town hall, Parc André GUILLAUMIN has a nine-hole mini-golf course that is open to everyone. The condition of the facility may matter for your visit; a quick check beforehand can help with planning. The Zone de loisirs d'Arrou leisure area has picnic tables, a playground and a boules court. It also has a beach and supervised swimming in the pond. However, swimming is closed to the public until the end of the 2026 season. If swimming is important to your travel plans, check access in advance.
Fishing is another activity associated with Arrou. The 9 ha Le Pont Foulon water body is designated for fishing in connection with Arrou. A designated fishing stretch runs 500 m downstream from Pont Richard along the left bank. Check the applicable fishing rules and access conditions before planning your visit.
