Le Coudray offers green spaces, paths along the Eure and historical themes that provide different ways to shape your stay. When planning, the specific route details can help: a riverside promenade, shared paths on a dedicated route and a 160-kilometre hiking trail describe different options.

Green spaces and shared paths

The coulées vertes in Le Coudray cover 80 hectares of green spaces. Their hilly, tree-lined corridors extend for more than six kilometres. In addition, there are eight kilometres of paths on a dedicated route, shared by cyclists and pedestrians. Six kilometres of these paths run within the green corridors. These figures describe different scales: the area of the green spaces, the length of the corridors and the full network of paths on a dedicated route.

Riverside paths and hiking route

A two-kilometre promenade runs along the banks of the Eure in Le Coudray. A cycle path also follows the river between Chartres and Le Coudray. If you are planning a bike ride, check local route conditions.

The GR® de pays Vallée de l'Eure also passes through Le Coudray. The hiking trail runs for a total of 160 kilometres from Anet to La Loupe. A specific route is described for the section in Le Coudray: after Rue de Gourdez, the trail passes through a wooded area into Parc de Gourdez. The total distance and this local section are different points of reference. La Godasse Coudrionne is dedicated to hiking and exploring the environment; if you are interested in taking part, check the current conditions in advance.

Parks and cultural history

Parc Etienne Bordet, also known as Parc de la Mairie, has been open to the public since 1992. As opening conditions may change, check them before your visit. Parc des 4 Saisons has a children's play area; please supervise children there.

The Séminaire des Barbelés was founded in 1945. It housed more than 950 German prisoners of war, who were trained as seminarians. Archive images at the Séminaire illustrate the camp's postwar history and the life of Franz Stock.

The chapel features restored wall paintings by Franz Stock. A Stations of the Cross created by a prisoner has also been restored. The Church of Saint-Julien in Le Coudray dates from the 11th century, adding a much older historical perspective to the area's heritage.

Community events

The Comité des Fêtes organises community events in Le Coudray, including flea markets, vintage car exhibitions and social evenings. Dates and programmes may change. If an event is a deciding factor in your trip, check the latest dates in advance.
