Manou offers travelers several themes to consider when planning a stay: a trail through a peat bog, other natural habitats, a place to fish, and a historic building complex. When choosing what to visit, it is worth considering not only what you can discover there, but also the access conditions for each place.

Peat bog and trail at the Tourbière des Froux

The Tourbière des Froux covers 8.52 hectares. The site includes a wooded acidic peat bog and a peat heath. These descriptions give a clear sense of the different habitats that define the area: alongside the peat bog, woodland and heath are also part of the landscape. If you would like to include nature in your stay in Manou, this site offers a clearly defined focus.

A public educational trail runs for 1.5 kilometers through the Tourbière des Froux and includes raised wooden walkways. Its length and layout make it easy to plan this visit as a separate activity. The peat bog will be closed to the public from late August through October 2026 for expansion work. If your trip falls during this period, take the closure into account. For a later visit, please check in advance whether access has resumed after the work is completed.

Les Robichonneries: habitats and access

Les Robichonneries lies on the western edge of the Senonches Forest in the Perche Regional Natural Park. The site includes an oligotrophic wet meadow, a tall-herb community, and a woodland pond. Rare species can also be observed there: the orchid Orchis négligé and the butterfly Nacré de la sanguisorbe. Both are classified as endangered on the regional Red List. The possibility of seeing them is a special feature of this natural site, but there is no guarantee that you will encounter them during a visit.

Access to Les Robichonneries is regulated differently from the public educational trail at the Tourbière des Froux. The site is private and cannot be visited freely, but guided tours are possible. If having a freely accessible trail is important to you, the access conditions at the Tourbière are generally a better fit—though note that it is closed through October 2026. For Les Robichonneries, plan on a guided tour rather than assuming free access; the Tourbière is closed from late August through October 2026. This lets you compare the two natural sites by their different visiting options without treating their habitats as equivalent.

Fishing and historic structures

Manou’s municipal pond offers a place to fish, adding a different leisure activity to the nature-focused options. If you plan to fish during your stay, check the local conditions in advance: fishing regulations may change. This makes the pond a specific option to consider without assuming any particular terms of use.

One historic highlight is the La Renardière complex. It includes the Sainte-Apolline Chapel, the floors and walls of the former lower courtyard, and the facades and roofs of the last 18th-century buildings of the Hospitaller Order. These components bring together a chapel, structural elements of a former courtyard, and buildings belonging to the Order. La Renardière therefore complements the nature-focused options with a historical perspective on different parts of a building complex.

The differences between these options can help you decide where to go: the Tourbière des Froux has a public educational trail, but will be closed during the specified period in 2026. Les Robichonneries offers several habitats and the possibility of spotting certain species, but is not freely accessible. The municipal pond offers an opportunity to fish; La Renardière, historic structures. This gives you a way to weigh up your interests and take the access conditions for each place into account when planning.
