Several themes may shape a stay in Ouchamps: church and seigneurial history, walking and cycling routes, and fishing. The historic buildings and different activity options offer distinct focal points for planning your trip.

Church, Manor House and Rural Heritage

The Église Saint-Pierre has a pre-Romanesque nave built with reused sarcophagus stones dating from the 11th century. The church’s northern seigneurial chapel was built later: Charles du Plessis commissioned it in the 16th century. At the church, you can distinguish two different historical layers—the pre-Romanesque nave with its reused stones and the later chapel.

Near the church, the Manoir d'Ouchamps was the seat of the Seigneurie of Ouchamps. The history of milling is also part of the local heritage: the Moulin d'Ouchamps is one of six mills still visible that are powered by the Bièvre. The tobacco drying sheds offer another glimpse into the agricultural past. They are considered the only buildings of their kind in the Pays de la Vallée du Cher et du Romorantinais. The historical themes thus range from church architecture and seigneurial history to mills and tobacco drying.

Cycling and Walking Routes

Ouchamps lies on a loop of the Châteaux à vélo cycling network. Another cycling loop, À travers les vignobles, passes former vineyard huts in Ouchamps. These offer different ways to plan a cycling trip: one connects with the cycling network, while the other follows a route that includes a named landmark from the area’s former wine-growing past.

The ten-kilometre La Chaumine circular walking trail is an easy route considered suitable for families. It starts at the church car park in the town centre; check the starting point before your trip. Along the way, the trail passes the washhouse of the former Château de Savonnières, a feature of the built heritage. The route also passes through the Bois de la Buzelière, a natural area along the way. The same circuit thus brings together a historic building and a natural area as distinct points of interest.

Fishing at the Lake and in Flowing Waters

The Plan d'eau d'Ouchamps covers six hectares and is used year-round by many people for recreational fishing. It has the “Parcours Famille” fishing designation. The fishing platforms at the lake are suitable for people with reduced mobility. Local rules may apply to fishing; check them before your visit.

There are further fishing opportunities in flowing waters: the Beuvron in Ouchamps has a 1,800-metre fishing stretch, and fishing is also possible on the Bièvre in Ouchamps. The Bièvre flows through the municipal area. If you would like to fish in either of these waters, check the applicable access and fishing rules before travelling.

Choosing a Hotel Based on Your Travel Interests

If you are looking for a hotel in Ouchamps, you can start by organizing your plans around the main focus of your stay: would you most like to discover the area’s architectural and seigneurial history, explore on foot or by bike, or go fishing? The ten-kilometre circular walk, cycling routes and different fishing waters offer specific points of interest, without requiring you to combine every theme into a single outing.
