During a stay in Les Grangettes, you can focus on four specific themes: the lakeshore, hiking routes, water sports and local history. For planning, it helps to know both the length of the trails and the conditions on the water.

Lakeshore and protected landscape

The protected Lac Saint-Point aux Grangettes area covers 1,018.97 hectares. It consists of the lake and its shores in the municipalities of Les Grangettes, Labergement-Sainte-Marie, Malbuisson, Montperreux, Oye-et-Pallet and Saint-Point-Lac. Les Grangettes beach on Lac de Saint-Point is one of two developed beaches supervised in summer.

Hiking routes through Les Grangettes

The Ronde des 2 Villages is an easy circular hike that passes through Les Grangettes. It is 5.5 kilometres long and takes about one hour and 45 minutes. Forests, fields and villages shape the route; it also offers views of Lac de Saint-Point. The approximate duration and stated difficulty give you practical details to help you include this loop in your day’s plans.

The circular route around Lac de Saint-Point covers 23 kilometres and can be completed on foot. Compared with the 5.5-kilometre Ronde des 2 Villages, it is considerably longer and loops around the lake. This makes it easy to distinguish the two outings by their length and route. The Tour du Lac Saint-Point mountain-bike loop also passes through Les Grangettes.

Water sports and lake outings

The Base nautique des Grangettes offers canoeing and kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, catamaran sailing, windsurfing, Laser Bug sailing and wingfoiling. Other options include equipment rental, private lessons, courses, canoe trips and group activities. Full-day multi-activity courses are available by reservation.

A canoe trip from the Base nautique goes across Lac de Saint-Point; it depends on the weather and water level. A walking stage leads to the Source Bleue, which is associated with a winding stream, cascades and a legend. Activities and booking conditions may change. So check current availability before making plans, especially if you intend to go on a canoe trip.

If you plan to swim, note that beach supervision is seasonal: the beach is supervised in summer. Water sports and beach supervision are therefore separate considerations that you can take into account individually when planning.

Buildings and local traditions

The parish church of Nativité-de-Saint-Jean-Baptiste in Les Grangettes has a choir dating from around 1635 and a nave from the 18th century. According to an inscription, its high altar was created in 1721 by the vicar Révérend Faivre.

The Croix des Grangettes, including its base and steps, is protected as a historic monument. It was listed by decree on 26 October 2023. Another local tradition is associated with La Pierre qui tourne: the stone is believed to be a remnant of a druidic cult. According to legend, it turns once every hundred years on Christmas night.

The hamlet of Port-Titi on Lac Saint-Point also has a specific historical origin. It was established in the early 20th century at the initiative of fishermen from Pontarlier who wanted huts in which to store their equipment.
