La Rosière: Hotels between wetlands and winter sports
Accommodation in La Rosière
You can plan your trip to La Rosière around three themes: wetlands and ponds, the Le Roséria walking trail, and Nordic activities. If you are looking for a hotel in La Rosière, these themes can help you decide whether you are more interested in wetlands, historical traces along a walking trail, or winter sports. The places and activities mentioned here offer concrete points of reference.
A natural landscape of wetlands and ponds
The Type 1 ZNIEFF area “Tourbière en Ronde Fin et Étang de Bachetey” (No. 430002345) encompasses La Montagne and La Rosière. Its name brings together the peat bog and the Étang Bachetey. The pond is oligotrophic: its water is acidic and low in nutrients. In simple terms, this ecological classification describes a body of water with a low nutrient content.
The Étang Bachetey has remarkable floating aquatic plant communities. These include narrow-leaved bur-reed and dwarf water lily; both plants are protected in Franche-Comté. The characteristic flora of the Tourbière en Ronde Fin and the Étang Bachetey also includes four nationally protected plants: “laîche des bourbiers,” “scheuchzérie des marais,” “rossolis à feuilles rondes,” and “rossolis à feuilles intermédiaires.” The area’s natural character is shaped by both the pond’s aquatic plants and those of the peat bog.
Le Roséria and Nordic activities
The Le Roséria walking trail passes near Fort de Rupt, a Séré de Rivières fortification system dating from the early 19th century. The route invites you to discover crosses, calvaries, fountains, remote hamlets, and former farms in the southern Vosges. These stops give the trail a clear focus: alongside the landscape, it also highlights religious landmarks and historical traces from the hamlets and farms.
The fountain in the courtyard of La Rosière town hall is the starting point of the walking trail. It is also right next to the tourist bus stop. Two specific winter activities are mentioned: cross-country ski trails and snowshoeing routes start at Fort de Rupt. The Domaine nordique des 1000 Étangs is located in the uplands of the communes of La Montagne and La Rosière. There, you can go cross-country skiing, skating, and snowshoeing. Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are available at both of the named locations; skating is an additional activity at the Domaine.
Fountains, art, and Cascade du Tampa
The fountain in the town hall courtyard was built around 1880 and renovated in 1999 by Christian Bergeret, an architect from Vesoul. The two dates mark different points in its history: the first refers to its construction, the second to its renovation.
Another notable feature of La Rosière is the Table du partage, associated with MORZUCH and CUNY. A deeply engraved blue line on the Table represents the watershed. The connection to water is expressed here in a different way from at the Étang Bachetey: not through pond ecology, but through a depiction of a watershed.
The Cascade du Tampa is a rocky waterfall on private property, on the edge of the D 237 between the villages of Corravillers and La Rosière. Its private status is relevant when planning a visit. Check access before considering a visit rather than assuming free access.
