Rioz combines hiking trails of varying lengths with Lac de la Faïencerie and buildings with distinctive historical and architectural features. If you are looking for a hotel in Rioz, these different themes can help you decide what to focus on during your stay: longer hikes, a walk around the lake, fishing or a look at the local architecture.

Compare hiking trails by length

Rioz has 14 hiking trails ranging from 3.2 to 23 km in length. This range allows for a straightforward comparison by distance. Two named routes are “Les anciens moulins” at 18.5 km and “D'un rail à l'autre” at 11 km. The first is therefore 7.5 km longer than the second; both can also be considered within the wider selection of trails.

The “D'un rail à l'autre” trail has picnic tables, benches and an information board. The route information thus pairs a specific distance with named places to take a break and find your bearings along the way. If you are planning a hike, check the current trail conditions before setting off; trail maintenance may also change.

Walks and fishing at Lac de la Faïencerie

Lac de la Faïencerie can be circled on a loop walk of about 1 km. This is considerably shorter than the hikes of 11 or 18.5 km. The lake is fed by the Rapigney stream. Both the approximate length of the loop and the stream that flows into the lake are specific features of this body of water.

Fishing is also available at Lac de la Faïencerie. If you would like to include fishing in your travel plans, check access and local fishing regulations before setting off. This lets you plan a visit to the lake either as a walk or for fishing, without treating the two as the same activity.

Fountain and church: buildings in Rioz

At the junction with the road to Montbozon stands a fountain with a sundial. Its location at the junction and the sundial are two specific features of the structure. The Church of Saint-Christophe brings together architectural history and design: it was rebuilt in the 18th century and has a Comtois bell tower with glazed tiles. The rebuilding places the church in its historical period; the bell tower adds a distinctive architectural detail to its story.

If you are interested in buildings as well as hiking, you can include these different features in your plans: the fountain on the road to Montbozon and the church with its distinctive bell tower. This brings individual local landmarks into your itinerary alongside longer outings, without requiring an additional hiking trail.

Accro'Rioz and laser tag

Accro'Rioz is a high ropes course in Rioz and also offers laser tag. These are two different activities to consider when planning your trip. If you would like to include either one, check the availability of the high ropes course and your chosen activity before travelling. This lets you consider it alongside hiking, the lake and the buildings, without assuming fixed opening or availability times.
