Discover Danjoutin through its walking trails and heritage. Local routes vary in length and theme: Les Perches offers views, the trail at Bosmont features forest and an orchid meadow, and the Circuit ForĂŞts et Canal also takes in the canal. Other attractions include Fort des Basses-Perches and a baldachin in Saint-Just Church. When planning your visit, you can choose how to balance your interests in nature and culture.

Walking trails with different highlights

The Circuit des Perches is a 4 km walking trail for discovering the historic and natural features of the Les Perches hill. Its starting point is where Rue de la Varonne in Danjoutin intersects with the cycle path between Belfort and Danjoutin. The route offers views of Danjoutin and the Pays de Montbéliard; on a clear day, the view extends as far as the Jura Mountains.

The Circuit du Bosmont is a 6 km walking trail where you can discover the historic and natural features of Bosmont Forest. It passes through La Brosse, a dry grassland known for its orchids. Danjoutin’s municipal forest comprises the Bosmont and Grand Bois forest areas; Grand Bois is home to numerous trees that are more than a hundred years old. Unlike the views from Les Perches, the trail at Bosmont focuses on a specific botanical feature: La Brosse.

Forest and canal on a longer route

The Circuit Forêts et Canal is a walking trail approximately 10 km long, taking around three hours to complete. It lets you discover parts of the municipal forests of Grand Bois and Bosmont, the canal from Montbéliard to Haute-Saône, and the landscapes near Danjoutin. At around 10 km, it is longer than the 4 km and 6 km trails; the approximate duration of three hours adds a time estimate to the route comparison. Along with forest scenery, this route also takes in the canal and the surrounding landscapes.

Fort and cultural discoveries

Fort des Basses-Perches was built between 1874 and 1877 and was also briefly called Fort Valmy. It is a fortification of the Séré de Rivière type and an integral part of the Belfort fortifications. The secured fort has been open to the public since 2025; check current access arrangements before your visit.

Saint-Just Church in Danjoutin contains an altar, processional, or architectural baldachin, which was listed as a protected object on January 9, 2001. The fort and the baldachin represent different aspects of the area’s heritage: the fort’s historical context is shaped by its construction period and its place within the fortifications, while the baldachin is a single listed object.

Another activity is offered by Escape Hunt Belfort in Danjoutin, with five escape-game scenarios. This means that, alongside walking trails and heritage, puzzle-solving scenarios are another specific option to consider when planning your stay.
