Conilhac-Corbières lies between the Minervois and Corbières; vineyards, pine forests and garrigue shape the landscape. When looking for a hotel in Conilhac-Corbières, it helps to consider whether you want to focus primarily on historical sites, trails, or wine and music. These themes offer different ways of seeing the town and give your travel planning a specific focus.

Landscape, Trails and Getting Your Bearings

The RD 165 crosses Conilhac-Corbières from south to north and is a scenic tourist road. It leads to the Col de la Portanelle and through one of the last foothills of the Corbières. The Boucle de Randonnée de l’Aousina is also one of the hiking trails in Conilhac-Corbières. Those who prefer mountain biking can join weekly and Sunday group rides; routes pass through garrigue, pine forests and vineyards. The road route, hiking trail and group rides thus offer different ways to take in the landscape.

For geographical orientation, the commune is located on the major D 6113 road connection, near the A61 motorway and the Bordeaux–Sète railway line. The D 6113 and the RD 165, which runs through the town, are two different road connections: one is the major link, while the other is the tourist route through Conilhac-Corbières.

Culture and History in the Town

The Tour de l’Horloge was part of Conilhac-Corbières’ medieval fortifications. The Église Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption offers a different historical focus: this Gothic religious building dates from the 14th century and was listed as a historic monument in 1942. The church contains two statues of incense-bearing angels. It also serves as a cultural venue and hosts the traditional Christmas concert.

Gallo-Roman traces are also part of the town’s history: tombs and settlement remains can be discovered on walks. In the town centre, a gallery lies beside a dry stream bed, 200 metres from the central Place de l’Horloge. These details highlight different aspects—from medieval fortifications and a Gothic church building to older settlement traces and a present-day cultural landmark.

Wine, Music and Events

The Château du Vieux Parc has been run by the Panis family for six generations and is considered the last privately owned wine cellar in the town. Visitors can tour the wine cellar and taste the family’s products. This connects the Château’s family history with a firsthand look at its wines.

Music and wine also come together at the Cave à Jazz. It is a venue for musical encounters and discovering AOC Corbières wines. From January to September, it opens once a month for evenings featuring food and a concert. If you plan to attend one of these evenings, check the specific event dates. At the Jazz Conilhac festival, art exhibitions featuring painting and photography are part of the programme; these exhibitions complement the musical focus with visual art.
