Neuvic: Landscapes, Water Sports and History
Accommodation in Neuvic
Neuvic offers several specific reasons for a trip, with options ranging from landscapes and outdoor activities to history. At Lac de la Triouzoune, water sports and nature take centre stage; golf, a woodland discovery trail, a church and a museum round out the picture. If you’re looking for a hotel in Neuvic, you can plan your stay around whichever of these interests matters most for your trip.
Lac de la Triouzoune and the Haute-Dordogne
Lac de la Triouzoune lies within the territories of Neuvic and Liginiac. It covers 410 hectares and reaches a maximum depth of around 30 metres. It is also part of the Haute-Dordogne gorges, which are classified as a ZNIEFF due to the diversity of their animal and plant life. At the lake, landscapes and nature are combined with a range of water sports.
Sailing, canoeing and kayaking, windsurfing, pedal boating, jet skiing and water skiing are offered there by the Station Sports Nature de Haute-Dordogne. This list includes different ways to spend time on the water. Activities may vary by season, so check which ones are available during your visit.
Woodland knowledge and culture
The “En sentier, la forêt se présente” discovery trail is in Neuvic, is 3 km long and has 15 information panels. They cover the forest’s three defining roles, as well as forest management and use. The trail therefore connects nature with how people interact with the forest. Its content goes beyond describing the forest to include its management.
The Église Saint-Étienne preserves elements of a Romanesque church, including two capitals on the portal depicting, among other things, the stoning of Saint Stephen. Capitals are the upper parts of columns; the term helps place these works within the architecture. For those interested in culture, Romanesque church art and, elsewhere, regional history are distinct points of interest.
The Musée départemental de la Résistance Henri Queuille focuses on Henri Queuille’s political career, as well as the history and commemoration of the Resistance in the Haute-Corrèze. Its subject matter therefore covers both a political figure and the region’s Resistance history. Together with the church, it offers two distinct cultural perspectives: architecture and historical remembrance.
Golf and an annual celebration
Golf de Neuvic is open for play year-round. There are two homologated 9-hole courses to choose from, each with a different layout: a compact course with an integrated pitch-and-putt course, and a classic, highly technical course. The latter has a slope rating of 144 from the white tees. If golf is a priority, you can distinguish between the two courses by their format and by the technical nature of the classic course.
The FĂŞte du coq de pĂŞche is a recurring event in the calendar. It takes place in Neuvic every year on 1 May as a national competition accompanied by a festival open to everyone. If the event is a deciding factor for your trip, check the date for the relevant year before making specific plans.
