Saint-Pantaléon-De-Larche: Heritage, Park and Greenway
Accommodation in Saint-Pantaléon-De-Larche
Saint-Pantaléon-De-Larche brings together points of interest in architecture, crafts, park design and outdoor activities. If you are looking for a hotel for a stay here, you can start by prioritising your interests: would you like to explore historic buildings, learn about glass bead making and heritage, enjoy landscaped green spaces or cover a longer distance?
Architecture and heritage
At Château de Cramier, the façades and roofs of the U-shaped building were partially listed as a Monument historique by a decree dated 24 May 1991. The Église Saint-Pantaléon offers a different architectural point of reference: its bell tower has a continuous gabled front, the floor plan is cross-shaped and the choir has a polygonal end. These terms draw attention to different parts of the buildings: the front of the tower, the basic shape of the church and the many-sided end of the choir. Together, the two sites show two approaches to architecture: certain parts of the château are partially listed, while the church’s floor plan, tower and choir give it the form described here.
Crafts and industrial history
At Sa Perle Y Popette, glass beads are made with a torch. Corderie Palus was founded in 1908 and extends for 280 m. It is listed in France as intangible cultural heritage and bears the “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant” label, whose status is subject to future renewal rules. The production of glass beads and a place with a long, quantifiable history thus represent different facets of crafts and heritage.
Visits to Corderie Palus are possible only by prior appointment and as part of a guided tour. If you plan to visit the Corderie, arrange your appointment in advance.
Parc de Lestrade: design and relaxation
Parc de Lestrade covers 3.5 hectares and is a landscape, leisure and recreation park that showcases local flora. Its sustainable design incorporates local plant species and flowering meadows; local timber, such as oak, is also used. A hydraulic circulation system uses plants for phytoremediation. The park therefore combines visible design features such as meadows and timber with a technical system in which plants also serve a purpose.
For families, Parc de Lestrade offers opportunities for walks and access to a play area. The walking paths and play area are two specific ways to spend time in the park.
The greenway for outdoor activities
The 17 km greenway connects Aubazine railway station with Pont de Grange in the commune of Saint-Pantaléon-De-Larche. It follows the Corrèze River and passes through Brive-la-Gaillarde. The route is protected and shaded, and is suitable for walking, cycling and riding a scooter.
Along the greenway, there are picnic areas, rest areas, a bicycle pump station and public toilets. If any particular facilities are important to your plans, check their current locations in advance. The difference between the two green spaces is specific: Parc de Lestrade is a 3.5-hectare recreation park; the greenway stretches for 17 km and is suitable for several types of transport.
