Cornimont brings together marked hiking trails, a Voie Verte, gardens and cultural sites. If you’re looking for a hotel in Cornimont, you can plan your trip around whether you want to focus on time outdoors, gardens or architectural and art history. The hiking options include a network covering the whole municipality, as well as individual routes with specific details on distance, elevation gain or walking time. The museum, gardens and buildings each add their own cultural highlights.

Hiking Trails and Landscape

The marked hiking trail network covers 130 km and is maintained by the Club Vosgien. Grand Ventron reaches 1,205 m and is the highest point in the municipality. In the Réserve Naturelle Massif du Grand Ventron, the landscape includes wooded areas, peaty clearings, secondary high-altitude pastures and extensive boulder fields. A Grande-Randonnée trail crosses the protected area from north to south. The Croix de Mission offers panoramic views of the surrounding valleys.

The distance and profile of some individual trails are described in more detail. The Chemin du 6ᵉ RTM is 4 km long, with an elevation gain of around 275 m; 14 information panels line the route. Conditions may vary by season. The Sentier des Colverts is a short riverside walk along the Moselotte. It is about 1 km long, easy and without any significant elevation gain; the walk takes approximately 45 minutes. The promenade has the “Tourisme et Handicap” label. By comparison, the Colverts is shorter and has no significant elevation gain, while the Chemin is notable for its roughly 275 m elevation gain and information panels. Details about the Colverts route may be updated; check them before your visit.

The Voie Verte between Remiremont and Cornimont

The Voie Verte from Remiremont to Cornimont is 30 km long and ends at the entrance to Cornimont. This gives you a different point of reference for planning than the individually described hiking trails: the route’s start and end points, as well as its total length, are specified.

Gardens, Museum and Architectural History

The Jardin et Objets des Panrées is situated at a higher elevation and is known for its unusual, varied designs and views of the Vosges Massif. In 2023, it received the “Jardin remarquable” label from the French Ministry of Culture. The Jardin de Bonnegoutte is dedicated to biodiversity. Its plants include roses, hydrangeas, perennials, aquatic plants, shrubs, vegetables and aromatic plants.

The Musée des 1001 Racines contains 1,000 works and is housed in a former textile factory that was specially converted for the purpose. It displays works by Vosges artist Michel Maurice (1937–2014). The former factory building provides a distinctive architectural setting for the collection.

Two buildings also offer different historical highlights: the Église Saint-Barthélémy was built in 1864 and features simple neo-Gothic architecture. The statue of Notre-Dame de la Paix was erected in the early 1950s and can be visited independently at any time.
